A diamond in central Pristina

Reviewed By ffay005

I booked the Swiss Diamond for its location and for the hotel spa. While I was quite happy with my stay, the initial impression left a bit to be desired as nobody replied to my email which I sent a few days before my stay. On arrival, however, I was welcomed by a friendly receptionist who checked me in quickly and answered all my questions. I found all the employees at the hotel friendly and well-intentioned, from the restaurant staff to the receptionists, maids and staff at the spa. The room, as well as the hotel in general, is furnished in a classical style. It was opened in 2011, and everything was still in excellent condition. The room felt very clean. However, my room was not very large by five-star standards, and there was no sitting area in the room. The bed was comfortable and there was ample closet space as well as a desk. Two 0.25 L water bottles, one still and one sparkling, were provided and replenished daily. All the usual amenities such as a safe, an umbrella, a bathrobe and slippers etc. were provided. The room had A/C, which was efficient enough in mid-May. The bathroom came with all the amenities you might need, from shaving kits to combs and dental kits. All toiletries came in single-use tubes, which I like as these are far more hygienic than the wall-mounted containers some hotels prefer to use in order to save money. The toiletries were hotel-branded and made in France. Water pressure was good both in the handheld as well as the overhead shower. Unfortunately, there was no bathtub. The lights in the bathroom turned on and off automatically, so no need to look for a light switch in the dark! An ample breakfast buffet was served on weekdays 6:30–10:30 and 6:30–11 on weekends. There were several hot items, and omelettes and other egg dishes could be ordered from the kitchen. The cold buffet included a wide array of breads, some local cold cuts and cheeses, some Middle Eastern items as well as fresh fruit, cakes and pastries. The only thing I missed was high-quality cold cuts. I had dinner at the beautiful restaurant, and while expensive by local standards, the food was definitely worth its price. Compared to Western Europe, prices were moderate. The tasty dishes were of good size and service was both quick and friendly. The restaurant serves both local as well as international cuisine. The pool area was an absolute joy. It was open from 7 in the morning till 11 at night. There was a largeish indoor pool with comfortably warm water, a jacuzzi, a Turkish bath and several saunas. It was a peaceful haven that I visited daily and enjoyed very much. The concierge desk in the lobby was occupied by some of the receptionists. They were perhaps not the most knowledgeable about their city, yet they were helpful in calling places and making arrangements. The hotel also runs an airport shuttle as a shared van for 20 EUR per person. The drive from/to the airport took 25–30 minutes. The hotel enjoys an excellent location in the very heart of Pristina, right by the pedestrian street and within walking distance of most attractions and many good restaurants. I got an attractive price of 91 EUR / night including breakfast, and I found the hotel very affordable and well worth its price. I will be sure to stay here again if I visit Pristina another time.

Great location in Pristina

Reviewed By _steph91986

Very modern hotel that seemed to be quite new. Room was nicely decorated, bed was large. Room was very clean and hotel was centrally located. There is not free parking unless you can find on the street, but there is a paid lot right across the street. Breakfast was buffet and had a huge variety. Price was average for hotels in Pristina, but I felt it was a good value.

Grand Boutique Hotel

Prishtina’s Grand Boutique Hotel is nestled at the well-known neighborhood of Peyton Place, previously known as the quaint little neighborhood of linden trees and tulips, now a well lit-up part of the capital city with people from all walks of life, ranging from high level government officials to intellectuals and youngsters who move to today’s music. A quiet setting but come the evening, the mood changes and shifts from a serious and official one of various embassies and banks to one of a vibrant and pulsating life with many bars and cafés at walking distance. Prishtina, a melting pot, where different people of all places and origins come and celebrate. Unconventionally beautiful on sight, with centuries old Ottoman heritage competing with communist designs and recently built architectural dreams of many hidden gems yet to be found of modern structures and monuments that speak of our fascinating history. Our Grand Boutique Hotel is characterized by an intimate atmosphere and idiosyncratic style. We distinguish ourselves from larger chain hotels by offering personalized attention and styled accommodation playing on a motif crossed between traditional and modern. Being intimate in scale, you will be a personal guest in a private home. The architecture and interior design of our hotel is as unique as our operations, always upscale and combine historic details with chic elegance. Our lines are sleek and contemporary whilst retaining a hint of quaint and homey. You might say we have a quirky or eccentric personality, but we pride ourselves in being fun, trendy and offbeat. Located at Peyton Place, a hip and fashionable urban area, we find ourselves in a lively, up and coming part of the city center, a high-end residential area, away from the hustle and bustle of the Prishtina nightlife, but convenient to city highlights such as The Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa, the NewBorn Monument and Bill Clinton Boulevard. We celebrate our local flavor with a strong sense of place through our locally sourced materials, reflecting the heritage of our location through color and art via wrought iron and wooden beams. We offer a highly personalized service, providing bespoke luxury amenities, such as an extensive pillow menu and custom toiletries. Like everything else about us, our restaurant is hip, trendy and locally sourced. A high quality, authentic breakfast for a clientele of all generations, who enjoy creative design, quirky character and luxurious services, will be right at home with us. Our fine and comfortable hotel and atmosphere will make your experience with us a Grand one.

Great hotel - too noisy during summer

Reviewed By theprofessortravels

We stayed here with the family for three nights. The staff and the hotel are very nice. The food is great, locally sourced and the atmosphere was very nice. Because it was summer, every day newly wedded couples would appear in the hotel premises: the restaurant, the pool, the garden to take professional pictures. We heard they pay the hotel to do this but it was quite an unpleasant experience to see every day during our stay more than ten couples coming and going in their taxedos and night gowns to take their pictures while you are trying to swim or enjoy yourself in the pool area. The worst part of our experience was in our last night, when a bachelorette party was taking place inside the pool area. This is a small hotel and the rooms are around the hotel. The music was incredibly loud and we could not sleep the entire night. That was not only disturbing but also unprofessional. After complaining to the staff, they were understanding and friendly enough not to charge us for that night.

Rooms are nice and commodious. New building across the hotel obscures the view to the town center. The courtyard in the middle of the hotel creates a nice atmosphere after a busy day. Only 20 minutes of walk to the Mother Teresa boulevard.
