The stone built hotel, which has been constructed with absolute respect to the historic surroundings and architecture of the Castle, is offering a very pleasant and relaxing accommodation to its guests, thanks to its comfortable furniture and modern equipment. All the architectural elements were preserved during construction, such as arcs and cisterns, while there has been a wonderful combination of marble floors in each room and marble walls in their bathrooms. Amazing location/hotel in an amazing town. Family owned and it showed - everyone so helpful and very friendly. Best breakfast we had in our 13 days in Greece! Terrace overlooking the town was also wonderful. Shame we didn’t get to climb up to upper town as it was closed off for repairs - good excuse to come back again!

Kinsterna Hotel

The Kinsterna Hotel is a Byzantine-era rural mansion, which was lovingly and superbly restored with great respect to its long history. Moreover, the natural setting and the activities that took place in the past on the premises have been revived, so the mansion to be self-sufficient. Today Kinsterna produces its own wine, extra virgin olive oil, olives, tsipouro (a Greek spirit), bread, marmalade, soap, etc. Tucked away in the folds of the lush hillside, with privileged views of the Medieval Castle’s Rock of Monemvasia in Southern Peloponnese and the endless blue of the Aegean, offers unique rooms, atmospheric suites and autonomous residences and blends magically into the surrounding vineyards, timeless olive groves, imposing eucalyptuses, lofty cypresses, and the gardens with fresh vegetables and herbs, within an estate of 22 acres. Unique and Wonderful

A truly unique and wonderful place to stay. We stayed two nights and I wish it had been three. The mansion and additional suites are impeccably done. We stayed in a premium suite with garden terrace, complete with peppers ready to pick just a few feet away. The grounds are a work of art. Any guests who know about gardening will enjoy them immensely. The crews should be proud of what they achieve there, their attention to detail throughout the property is evident in every plant in every corner of the resort. As others have noted, one of the most special characteristics of Kinsterna is that they grow and produce a lot of the food that they serve. Though only Mouries restaurant was open, the quality of the food was very good. And what the Greeks may not do well locally, they bring in from other places ( ie. butter from France and Mozzarella from Italy). We were disappointed not to get to enjoy Sterna due to seasonal timing, but could imagine how excellent a meal there would have been by the quality of the ingredients we enjoyed. Members of our group participated in several resort activities, bee keeping, wine tasting, soap making and horse back riding. All of which were a hit. The mansion produces its own wine and olive oil labels, made from grapes and olives grown right on the property. The only nit is that restaurant staff could have been a little more attentive. It could be a struggle at breakfast to get a servers attention for coffee, something we witnessed with other guests and also noted in other reviews from this season. I also felt the pool staff could be a bit more attentive to guests as well, but overall the service was exceptional. Reception and Panos the activities manager were five star. The road to the resort does become a little “rough” towards the end, but do not be dismayed, it’s all part of the charm, and there are signs if you watch for them. Having stayed in other luxury accommodations throughout Greece, we enjoyed this one the most. Thank you to the entire staff, this property was a real highlight of a full two weeks in Greece. We will surely return.

Malvasia Traditional Hotel

At the end of the cobblestone high street that runs through the castle of Monemvasia, and about 300 metres from the castle’s only gate, is to be found the traditional Malvasia Hotel. Built in an enchanting location, it gazes towards the open horizon and the boundless sea. The view is magical. The hotel’s stunning terraces, with their views of the splendid azure of the sea and the majestic rock of Monemvasia, are perfect for endless hours of daydreaming. The traditional Malvasia Hotel, one of the castle’s first lodgings, has 15 rooms and apartments, all of which reflect the special atmosphere of the dwelling, rather than the impersonal feel of a hotel. The hotel also offers a living room, breakfast room, and a very popular bar with a spectacular sea view. The mansion, today featuring 5 apartments, is one of the oldest buildings within the castle of Monemvasia, and is known to have belonged to the town’s important Stellaki family as early as the 18th century. The mansion’s position is unique. It stands above the sea wall among the battlements, gazing out over the endless open sea. Its stone-built parapet balcony rests on the fortress walls and merges with the sea lapping at the rocks below. In times past, the locals used to proudly boast that King George of Greece had stayed at the Stellaki mansion.

Fabulous views in a magical setting!

We traveled in late april. It was holiday time so Monemvasia was very busy. We stayed 2 nights and happy we did- one would not have been enough. Hiked all the way up the mountain to Agia Sofia and worth every minute of the exhaustion. The beds were just ok- and our room got very hot at night but we simply opened our windows and shutters since it was cold outside. The night I took the photo- I was sort of glad I woke up from being hot or I would never have seen that view. We ran our air con but it was useless so I wouldn't want to stay there in the hot summer. We never complained to staff about it so maybe there was something wrong with it that needed fixing. the toilet leaked from the water line when we first got there and we told them about it and it was fixed within 2 hours. The breakfast was typical hot/cold Greek buffet that we came to expect- it exceeds anything in the US we have had in any club level hotel. I would stay here again for certain but only in a season that isn't hot due to the air con issue. i would expect that this hotel is just getting up to speed after the pandemic since Greece was still wearing masks. this hotel required masks until you sat down to eat. At the buffet- gloves and masks were worn. Its kind of dumb since when you sit to eat- we all breathe the same air and people were coughing and sneezing. By the time we we left Greece on May 7, the masks were going away.

Great view of the rock from the front rooms and the ground floor terrace. Hotel is clean, with very friendly staff and we where very happy with the room. Huge bed, good matrass, small private terrace. Breakfast was in buffet on day 2 and brought to the table on day 1 due to small hotel occupation at the start of the season. If you’re there for more than 1 night, staying on the mainland is probably the better option, than staying on the rock. Getting your luggage to a room/hotel on the rock might be a challenge dragging it through busy small cobblestone alleys. There is a shuttle bus to the rock/Monemvasia twice per hour till late, and Panorama hotel has a large private parking.

Ardamis Traditional Guesthouse

The Traditional Guesthouse Ardamis is housed in the most significant building of the Monemvasia castle, whose history goes many centuries back. It was the governor's house during the Venetian rule and a residency during the Ottoman rule, while two Byzantine emperors have also been welcomed there. The building was renovated with respect, without absolutely any alteration of the areas, keeping its particular architectural elements intact, thus highlighting its beauty and history, while at the same time offering all modern luxuries. When the renovation started a Byzantine coin was found in the ruins dated back to 711 A.D. which is now exhibited in the Numismatic Museum of Athens and is unique in its kind. Some of the guest house special elements are the unique Castle tower, 14 meters high with seven windows, an 800 years old marble well, a true copy whereof is exhibited in the Museum of Istanbul and a picture whereof is exhibited in the Castle Museum, and of course the guest house 100 m2 balcony right above the sea which many Greek and foreign magazines and visitors have called <the Mediterranean terrace> . Currently the guest house is an amazing complex of rooms, suites and apartments joining the history with the living present of Monemvasia. Ardamis Traditional Guest Houses is the ideal destination for honeymoon. Quality never suffers a crisis; this is our firm belief which we prove everyday to all our clients. We shall continue to offer state-of-art services so that you may enjoy the comfort, the amenities and the ambience of Ardamis guest houses. Thousands of readers of various magazines have classified us as the best guest house in Greece, for three consecutive times; we are awarded for our efforts but also committed to constantly improve the quality of our services, even in difficult periods as this. One of the voting procedures was held by the "Voyager" magazine which conducted a poll among 60,000 readers; with a percentage of 96.68% our guest house won the first prize across Greece!!!! Selecting your accommodation based on the price is unfair to both us and you.

Lovely guest house in the best position

We stayed here for two nights on our tour of the Peleponnese and it was delightful. The rooms are in an old building just inside the fortified town. We had a large mini-suite at the bottom of the steps. King-size bed with steps down to a large seating area. The front door with a table and chairs outside is on a terrace over-looking the sea-wall (public). At the back there are also doors onto a shared courtyard. The guest house is not currently serving breakfast, but the hostess offer an ordering service from a local patisserie offering delivery of a range of copious and excellent breakfast options. Also in room tea and coffee-making (filter) for your second cup of coffee.

Stayed two nights here. Walking distance to everything including the island fortress although we chose to use the shuttle bus available at the causeway. The room was clean and well appointed -- even had electric jug and tea and coffee making [very important inclusion for us!!]. We had a balcony and views of the 'rock'. Clean and safe swimming directly across the road with beach showers. Breakfast was well provisioned and we were able to find something to eat each morning. There are some great restaurants along the waterfront around near the harbour and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the water to enjoy a drink before venturing out. Parking is on the street but no problem. The lady at reception [sorry can't remember her name] was very helpful and they reset the wifi promptly when we reported that it was not working. We really enjoyed our stay here and are happy to recommend.
