Bad attitude by FREDERICO (front desk) and unreasonable policies!

Reviewed By FlaviaB92

Customer here service is way below average and clearly not a priority. The strictest hotel I’ve ever stayed at with the most unreasonable policy and least accommodating customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. The front desk named FREDERICO has a snarky attitude. His lack of professionalism is baffling. He thought he was smart enough to finish my sentence when I expressed that the hotel was not being reasonable for not allowing my manicure service to go up in the room (unless I paid for an additional 60 reais). I said I’m used to staying at hotels all over and have never heard of such policy. He then used of more sarcasm to tell me he has never stayed at a hotel so that he wasn’t one to know. KELLY, who was working front desk on the same shift, politely asked me to wait so she could try to find a solution. She at least made an effort to book me a manicure and pedicure service in the neighborhood while Frederico went about his routine unbothered. As I had predicted, I ended up having to attend the a wedding without getting my nails done do to limited time. When I book a hotel on vacation I expect to be able to enjoy the convenience of having services booked and done in-room. Not at San Diego, no. I was told, however, that I would be able to, but only if I paid some extra cash in addition to the five-day stay paid for in advance and in full. Not to mention, I was in town to vacate, attend a wedding and visit family. When I called in to ask how much they would charge so that I could receive three guests and spend one day with them at the hotel using the amenities, I was informed the hotel did not, under any circumstance, allowed hotel guests to host outside guests. That’s what I’m referring to when I say they are unreasonable. If the concern here is security, as I was informed on the phone, a simple way to fix that to ask for an ID of the person visiting. If the concern is overcrowding the area for paying guests, set a limit of a one-visitor per guest. That’s how other hotels with a better track record regarding customer service do it. Also, San Diego should know the reason why many of their guests stay there is because of the POOL and they should be able to have a guest over or at the very least PAY so their visiting guest to join them. I’m not paying for a bed to sleep in. I’m paying to use the facilities and be joined by a guest if I want to. As it turns out, I had to pay for an additional stay just for my guests so they could join me and hang out at the pool. I did exactly what the hotel staff asked of me. And after all that (you’re welcome for giving you more business) I am treated poorly by a rude and snarky FREDERICO telling me I would need to pay extra to have a nail technician come up in my room for an hour. I suggest San Diego’s management look closely into his work ethic and conduct. I noticed he works most day shifts. Maybe it’s time to give another employee a better shift and demote him because he is just really bad at his job. So tired of seeing men do a mediocre job but still be rewarded just because. You have plenty of competent ladies and other men staff better prepared. Having said that, I must give credit where it’s do. ROGÉRIO at the front desk is kind, polite, professional, resourceful, and funny. My husband and I checked on different days and we both received good service by him. It’s always a good thing if you get to laugh as you check in. Both Flavia and Daniella were professional and attentive in their customer service. DANIELA was very patient and spoke to me for several minutes on the phone trying to explain the hotel’s very strict policies. She couldn’t accommodate my requests, but she was professional and attentive. FLAVIA was resourceful and booked the additional stay for my guests. The breakfast staff (cooks and waitresses) were very kind and answered to my request when I asked for buttered bread (which wasn’t on the menu). Overall, its unfortunate to say this is my second (first time was a little over a year ago) and LAST time staying here. San Diego is miles away from understanding what good customer service is. I don’t recommend staying here. It’s stressful and frustrating because the hotel’s priority is NOT to accommodate. Management seem to think having a pool is enough to set them apart from the other hotels in town. What sets them apart instead is the poor treatment of guests (this is heavily due to FREDERICO). Get rid of him ASAP. Strict policies are inconvenient but a bad attitude toward guests is simply unacceptable.
