Each and every single year has added to our to our great memories of visiting the Netherands, and especially the peaceful and friendly village of EPEN, where we have always stayed at HOTEL DE KROON. You will not find another hotel where a personal welcome by the Landlord is greater anywhere. Don't expect to be greeted in 'Top Hat and Tails'....but the welcome and hospitality throughout your stay will be of the best.. Frits the Landlord will make sure of that. He is such a friendly, and jovial guy who likes good clean fun and laughter.. To confirm that my next visit ( 10 days in May 2019 ) goes equally as well, I travelled for a three day holiday to see Frits (privatelly at my forthcoming DE KROON. ) and could see that he was all set up and ready for the Holliday Season. I could see that my forthcoming holiday in May was going to be another fantastic holiday .like I have always had at the HOTELE DE KROON, EPEN, SOUTH LIMBURG, probably in my opinion the BEST HOTEL you will stay at in EPEN. I WILL CERTAINLY BE BACK IN THE MONTH OF MAY FOR 10 DAYS...THAT'S HOW MUCH I LOVE HOTEL DE KROON.

A compete deception
Reviewed By yank17People are smoking all over the place, just outside and all terrasses. The blinds in the rooms do not darken the rooms and during the nights you can read a book inside with the lighting switched off. The privacy in room with a balcony is poor, not to say non-excisting. Unless you close the sliding doors and the blinds completely other will watch and hear all your activities in the room and in bed. Their was a nasty sewage smell in the bathroom without obvious reasons. The bed linen smelled from smoking. Their is no safe in the room. The public area for breakfast is pretty cramp and ventilatios is hardly present.

Een perfecte plek om na te genieten van de heerlijke dag in het heuvelland. In ons restaurant wordt gewerkt met zoveel mogelijk lokale kwaliteitsproducten, zoals het heerlijke brood van de bakker verder op in de straat. Onze kaart is nooit hetzelfde. Elk seizoen heeft zijn eigen unieke smaak en brengt zijn eigen unieke gerechten met zich mee. Ook voor de fietser en wandelaar is er plek in ons restaurant. Stippel onder het genot van een lekkere lunch de rest van uw route uit of ga op het terras even met de beentjes omhoog. Kies gerust een tafeltje en laat u verrassen door de kaart.

Breakfast offers a good selection though fresh orange juice and an Nespresso machine would add some style. Bedrooms are fine though single beds masquerading as a double. Shower rooms are far too small.

Delicious asparagus dinner with all the trimmings: Boiled ham, air dried ham, egg, sauce Hollandaise, new potatoes in butter and of course a bottle of Pinot blanc. A delicious, well executed and presented dish. Good views across the hills and valleys. friendly staff. Easy parking. Recommended!

Great restaurant, but Fawlty Towers Hotel horror

Rooms are sufficiently large. Good WiFi connection in the hotel. The location is opposite a bus stop and very near to a supermarket. Location is also perfect for walks in all directions. The third generation owners are awful. Very unfriendly, totally uninterested in their guests. I was barked at on several occasions when daring to remark that there are no extras in the room at all -such as a shower cap, pen and paper, slippers, bath robes, (wine) glasses- ("We've NEVER had extras!") or when remarking that the breakfast room was too hot ("IT'S HOT EVERYWHERE!!"). This hotel caters for vulnerable, senior citizens who are too timid to give any feedback to this thoroughly unhospitable couple. I left one day early, could not stand the fiendish atmosphere any longer. Upon departure I was asked if I had received a free drink coupon - I had not. To which the owner remarked: "Oh, well, you had food with your drinks, so then you're not entitled to a free drink anyway". ????? He got angry when I asked for an explanation: "I don't see what your problem is!!". I've been around the world and back, but have never been treated so badly ever before. The downstairs interior is stuffy and outdated (looks like a 1980-throwback). Fits in nicely with the hotel atmosphere. Reception has an abundance of information folders and leaflets however; since the hosts refuse to even look at you (let alone talk) I don't think anybody would dare ask about any activities in the area.... The rooms are barren: fridges were taken out, no (wine) glasses, no slippers, no bath robes, no shower cap, no nothing. The rooms are subsequently overpriced at € 89 per night (including breakfast). There was a big stain in one of my chairs, pillows are stained as well (no flanner covers used here). There was a hole in my sheet covering the mattress. Mattress is good, bed covers are old and worn out... Other than that, the room and facilities were clean.

Reviewed By mamaatjezA weekend which had to be romantic was not as nice as we hoped: spider web in the bathroom, no fresh cup in the bathroom (understand: no replacement of used pet cup) coffee cup with lipstick on it food not warm enough. Would absolutely not recommend this hotel.
