Reviewed By BeWhoYouBeFirst of all do not rely on google maps for this homestay. It will take you to the wrong place. Follow the direction in one of my pictures. Wherever google maps takes you, keep going for about 2 blocks, then turn left into a parking lot where they sell pottery ceramics. You will see a set of stairs on the side of the back building with long red flag with Chinese letters. The homestay is within a building, in an alley behind the main road. I know it sounds sketchy but that’s how countryside is. Trust me it’s a legit place and very well ran by a lovely couple. NOTE : Checkin time ends at 9 PM ! Don’t come late ! Onto the actual house: WOW ! You can tell they put a lot of love and attention to the details. There’s many cute little knick-knacks and country/farm style decors. It reminds me of visiting grandma’s place. There are 2 cute poodles living in this house. There are also a couple of birds. The pets seem clean nicely groomed and well cared for. You will need to take off your shoes and wear the house slippers provided. The unit has 4 floors, so you will have to carry up your luggage. Something to consider if your party has physical limitations. There is NO mini-fridge or iron/ironing board in the rooms. There is a hair dryer though. For the larger double bed Sweet Lady room: Very romantic with canopy drapes around the bed. Balcony with seating area, water hose to wash anything, and some cute Parisian style decors. Sofa, TV, tea kettle, 2 hair dryers, dehumidifier. I like that the bathroom is split into 2 rooms : one with toilet and mini sink, the other with shower and larger sink. This way the bathroom is not tied up. Water pressure is good for shower, although it’s on a high floor so it takes a while for water to get warm. Kind of a waste of water to run it to get warm. Shampoo and body wash, toothbrush toothpaste and shower cap provided. Twin Room : 2 small twin beds, sitting area, shower bathroom. Breakfast is included. You will also have access to large dining area and kitchen table. There is a hot water station, free tea and light snacks/fruits. There is a kitchen, I am not sure if guests can use it to cook. Please check with owners. It is a lovely homestay. You will not get modern here. But if you want quaint, thoughtful details and decor, friendly service, peaceful escape from city, this place is for you. Staff speaks Taiwanese and a bit of English.

Reviewed By AphiradeeWe took 2 small dogs on holidays so this is the hotel to be . Very costly but we made the decision to come . Rooms were clean and comfortable . Shower was a bit small but not too bad . Toilet was not the warm type but we came when the weather was not too cold .

Reviewed By Christy COne of the best hotel homestay we had in Taiwan! Jane, the extremely friendly lady boss prepared porridge specially for my toddler boy to help him eat better. Excellence experience with personal touch from Jane herself. We have booked 3 rooms with different themes, the stay is simply out of this world! Beautiful outdoor environment as well. Will definitely go back again!!!

One Night Too Many
Reviewed By SGPTaiTaiWe stopped over at Yilan enroute back to Taipei. Having stayed in several minsus across Taiwan, we were sorely disappointed with this so-called speciality lodging. We paid NT 5200 for a night's stay in a 4 person cabin with: 1. No windows 2. No towels unless asked for 3. A bathroom with grout stained tiles 4. No handsoap 5. Musky smell 6. Bedding that has seen better days 7. No wardrobe, hangers or hooks 8. Worn sofa 9. View of the driveway 10. Mediocre breakfast spread of plain bread/butter and jam, some fruit, Taiwanese porridge with pickle condiments and small serving of Yilan braised duck. I'm sorry but the friendly proprietor does not make up for the lack of value. Neither does the river by this B&B or even if we'd time to do a spot of fishing here. The only I liked about the place was the Yilan braised duck I had for breakfast, which I reckon I could have gotten elsewhere in Yilan. I'm still puzzled why Rivervilla 水云轩 has been rated as the #1 Speciality Lodging in Tripadvisor. I would only rate it higher if the nightly rate was in the NT 3000 region.

Reviewed By Bernard KNice accommodation for the family. We booked the room with slides, the kids had a blast in the room, as well as the indoor and outdoor play areas. We stayed at the 2nd Building which was newer, and had a nice cosy restaurant onsite too, run by the lovely hosts.

quiet GH with nice view
Reviewed By mavis Sstayed here on 1st 2016, we changed our plan not going Hualian but stay in Yilan one more night, we arrived the GH at night so can not see the place around, but the next day when we open the window the view was amazing. the field in winter was so beautiful with water. the room was ok, fee was little bit high as taiwanese standard. had breakfast and wifi.
