Quinta do Caminho, AL

In the way to Santiago, as we walk through the old roman bridge of Pedreira, Quinta do Caminho rises quietly and peacefully inviting every traveller in. There's a water course that runs below the house and crosses all the property: Not so long ago it took water to the 3 water mills that still exist under the house. All around Quinta do Caminho there's a a cosy and infinite water sound that fulfills time.

nice and quiet place.

Close to Valença, very nice, beautifull place to stay. The room was big and recently renewed. Also the terrace was big. The bed however was a little bit squeaky :-P We ate dinner at the restaurant of the hotel and the food was truly amazing. Amazing food, combined with the good care of Luis, we had a perfect evening. Try the Picanha carpaccio and the tbone steak, believe us, you won’t be disappointed. 

Quinta Estrada Romana

Right at the Caminho de Santiago, the Albergue Quinta da Estrada Romana offers a unique experience to spend the night. At our Farm, we welcome all Pilgrims and guests to recharge their batteries. Here you can sleep, relax, taste fresh vegetables and local wines, enjoy, socialize, help on the organic gardens, learn about Permaculture, walk on the Camino or work online (Speed Internet available). There is a platform for yoga practitioners and a small lake to refresh your mind. The hostel offers two dorms, one with 3 bunk beds and an open loft with 6 single beds and two double beds. A private room ensuite is available. Our goal is to listen to our guests sharing their experience on the Caminho. We love to give fresh motivation for the next travel day and along everyone's personal journey. Bringing people together and sharing the Portuguese tradition, in a nutshell, is happening at the Quinta Estrada Romana Hostel.

Best stop on the Camino Portuguese

Reviewed By Liz R

Along the past few days of the Camino Portuguese, we bypassed most towns and highways, which was lovely, but we missed having places to stop and rest and re-fortify. Then we came across Quinta Estrada Romana, right on the Camino! It was lovely and welcoming and had the BEST iced tea! The owners were so gracious, just what a tired pilgrim needed. And delicious homemade pastel de nata right out of the oven made our day! Next time I’ll plan to stay the night!

Old Village Hostel

Convenient and not expensive

Reviewed By Alia_Aliena

I spent 1 night (August 4/5, 2018) in room “D.Teresa” at Old Village Hostel. The room was a family room, with private bathroom, I used it in single occupancy – I wanted a room with balcony, since I am a smoker. The room was large, the furniture very basic. It did have a ventilator and towels in the bathroom but not toiletries, not even a plastic glass in the bathroom (but I suppose there were available in the kitchen). There are many signs with interdictions in the room: no food, no drink, not washing clothes in the sink. Guests had access to a common area and a kitchen. The common spaces were nicely decorated. There is no elevator but the reception person helped with my luggage. The breakfast was very basic. However, the price (for the 4 persons’ room and the 4 breakfasts) was only 41 eur and the place is around the corner from the bus station; the Old City Ponte de Lima and the Bridge are about 10-15 min away on food – very convenient. It is the place to stay if you need some clean, convenient and not expensive place for a shower and for sleeping, but not if you look for glamour or style.

Excellent choice

This is, by far, one of the best hostels I've ever been at. Being a refurbished school, it sits on a historical and lovely building. Beds are very comfortable, 5-star staff, great (yet minimal) breakfast. It has private parking, which is a plus. However... - bedrooms are very hot and if you open the window, you won't be able to sleep at all: rooms face the main road and sits on the side of a traffick light that beeps for pedestrians - the showerhead has a timer, giving you a short period to shower, just like in camping...

A great start to el Camino Portugues

We couldn't have wished for a better start to our journey! The hostel is a gem in the beautiful city of Valença, right within the city walls which is a great plus, right in the Camino path. Our host was very welcoming and gave us numerous tips for food and for the walk itself. Everything has been carefully designed and build with care and love...having all one could wish for! The beds are well built and extremely comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic and the bathrooms are spotless clean! Highly recommended!! Congratulations and all the best for your future! Ah, that's right there's also a small area outside to enjoy a drink and a read!

By far the best accommodation option in the city of Viana, in what I believe is the last step towards the opening of numerous hostels/hotels and other tourism-related establishments along with the entire logistic effort that inevitably comes with a touristic boom which I'm certain will happen in the city of Viana just like it happened in Porto or Braga. The staff is friendly and, above all, professional, 24 hours available, serious and trustworthy, the cleaning conditions are excellent, the space is more than large, the facilities are in excellent condition of preservation and functionality, and unlike other not-so-serious accommodations/hostels they DO have a breakfast, and not just any breakfast: it's very good and complete. Someone who complains about that or any other aspect in this accommodation either has some personal or intellectual issues or is being dishonest. All this comes at an incredibly fair and low price when compared to what happens in other accomodations in this and other cities. This place truly is an unexpected and surprising positive exception to the mainstream accomodation offers at this point and state of things. I truly recommend this to any type of traveller, or group of travellers. If you're looking for a place to stay in Viana for one night or several nights, this is the place to stay, don't miss it out.

Really nice, comfortable, nature, walks, relaxing, the cat is lovely, good value for money. A perfect place to spend a few more weeks during this 2020 Lockdown, crossing the street and we are on the beach.
