We had a fantastic stay, Christine was so welcoming and helpful. We stayed in the Little Thatch cottage and it was beautiful. It was so clean and tidy, I have never stayed somewhere so well equipped it had everything you needed and more. We took our dogs with us and the back garden was so well secured you had no worries of them getting out. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Balbinny is fabulous, the second time we have stayed, this time in one of the Brochs, and we were even more impressed from the first time. A perfect week over Christmas to unwind, explore the countryside, and enjoy a breakaway. David was quick to assist with any requests or help, a great place to stay we highly recommend it.

We had a 3 night break away and are so pleased with our choice of places to stay. Couldn't have picked anywhere else that provided such beautiful quiet surroundings. Clean and comfortable with everything you could possible think of available. Sarah was very helpful and on 2 nights we ate in and ordered the meals which were brought to us - they were very tasty and plentiful and highly recommended. We loved the use of the pool and sauna and hope to book again next year if not sooner.

A great place to stay

Reviewed By IKB

We booked two of the lodges with hot tubs and found them to be excellently equipped and clean, with a high standard of furnishing and loads of space in and around the lodge. The children enjoyed the football field, the playground and the activity barn. The hot tubs were clean and well kept, so we enjoyed using them. The site is very convenient for the wide range of activities available in NY and we went on the NYMR, enjoyed a walk from Goathland to Grosmont and visited Flamingo Land. The only downside for us in the accommodation was that we are used to a 6 foot bed, so the standard double bed seemed very small.

Immaculate lodge - no wifi

Reviewed By Laura H

This is a genuinely honest review.. We booked a last minute stay here just as a get away with the kids. We wanted to go to the seaside but also stay somewhere nice. The lodge was very clean, and when I say clean, it was immaculate & I am fussy. Even the shower screens were pristine! The restaurant on-site is good. Breakfast was ok and convenient. Evening specials meal was fantastic. They say they offer 10% discount, twice we didn’t get any discount applied to our meals, but once we did so not very consistent. The outdoor area is fab for the kids to run around and make friends. One major disappointment for us was that they do not provide wifi in the lodges, in my opinion, in this day and age it should be included especially as there is no internet signal available. Unfortunately one of our children was poorly and we needed to get emergency Calpol at 1:30am, having no internet meant we could not find any local 24 hour garages. We ended up driving for 45 minutes each way in the middle of the night - simple fix would have been internet so we could see where was open but instead we had to drive to Mablethorpe and then back and then back to Louth to find somewhere open. Overall we did enjoy our stay, and the kids had a great time. They enjoyed riding the little trikes that they kindly lend to the children to ride around on, and they loved the park as there’s so much to do for them - (we have 2 girls aged 5 and 3). They made friends with the little dog that lives there too, I think her name is Pip. She is very friendly and likes having the tennis ball thrown for her.

We found Beeches Farm Cottages and booked our stay through Booking.com, but it’s much easier and straight forward to book direct via Beeches Farm Cottages own website, much the best option. We booked 3 nights accommodation, arriving on Tuesday and staying to Friday. Our hosts Nigel & Pauline were most welcoming and helpful. We had booked a double room with en-suite which was clean and tidy with tv and a small fridge in the room, a kettle, tea and coffee where provided as a small bottle of milk. Outside was a small patio area and bench, perfect for enjoying a sunny evening. Also nearby where table benches, a games room and a small football pitch near the parking area. Also there are fields for dog walking, I should add there is a very reasonable charge for brining your dog. Locally there are 3 good pubs that are dog friendly just a short walk away (The Tollgate Inn & The Old Ham Tree Inn at Holt and The George at Woolley. All offer reasonably priced meals. A very enjoyable stay and we would recommend Beeches Farm Cottages to all.

A little bit of heaven in the Peaks

Reviewed By Lottylock

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the 3 bedroom cottage (Cottage by the Pond) and I have to say it far surpassed our expectations! What an incredible spot and the place was so comfortable and cosy! We just didn’t want to leave! I actually think that the photos don’t do it justice! We had such a brilliant time exploring the area, doing the Dovedale Steps walk, the Roaches walk and venturing a little further to Matlock Bath to visit The Heights of Abraham. I wish we had stayed longer! Whilst the southern tip of the Peaks, it’s a fab place to base yourself to explore all the stunning scenery the area has to offer. We were made to feel extremely welcome on arrival and comfortable during our stay. If you are eco conscious this organic farm ticks so many boxes! We have stayed on other farms previously and they have always been noisy and smelly but this one was neither, just idyllic and beautifully situated to enjoy incredible views. The WiFi is slightly patchy but that didn’t matter as I was there to relax, not be on my phone all the time! My only regret is that I didn’t book it for longer! As a family of 5 I have to say this was one of our favourite ever set catering cottages we have ever stayed in.

Primrose Cottage Getaway for Six

Reviewed By Jill J

We love the time between Christmas & New Year, and like to get away from it all with our family. We had originally booked the same week in 2020 but Covid meant it was not to be. Then we heard the Grainary had changed hands, but the booking was carried forward. We arrived in the fog & dark and all looked very gloomy, but we found a chap who showed us where to go, and once we were inside the holiday began. A very spacious, warm & comfortable cottage. Home from home induction hob, though not a lot of worktop space for preparing meals for 6, etc. The welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits was very much appreciated. Our granddaughters shared the downstairs twin bedded room, and loved the wet room, and being in charge of 'downstairs' while we adults were in bed. The tea room is currently closed, and lots of refurbishment is taking place around the farmyard. Very muddy as you would expect this time of year, with a week of constant rain too. Could have done with the wheelie bins a bit closer to the cottages. Lovely to see the animals, sheep, goats and donkeys. A lovely touch was Briony bringing us Prosecco & wishing us happy new year on the evening of 31st Dec. If only we could have stayed up later than 10pm! All that fresh air just does you in. Only downside is that the local pubs are a car journey away; and we wish we'd bought our wellies to walk across the farmyard!
