A beautiful estate in the heart of wine country!

We had a lovely stay in the Werf 1 cottage at Boschendal! The cottage had everything we needed and more, an amazing place to relax and get away from the bustle of the city. The breakfast was amazing...I had the avocado toast and green juice, both delicious. We loved walking the grounds, the mountain views, horses, the kids play area was amazing, and the mountain biking rentals and trails were incredible. The pizza and wine were great for a late night catching up with friends. All around we'd highly recommend this place when staying in wine country!

Beautiful homely hotel in the heart of the winelands

Reviewed By tomoI3101QJ

We enjoyed 3 nights at the lodge in May 2022. It is a beautiful hotel with many homely touches (comfortable living areas for reading, fires lit and very nice interiors). The bathroom was bigger than some apartments and very luxurious. It’s a great location for exploring the winelands as you are in walking distance of the wine tram and can also access other vineyards on foot (Mont Rochelle, Le Lude). We ate in 2/3 nights and were blown away by the delicious home cooked meals. On one evening, it was just the two of us, so it was like having a private chef in a very fancy home.

La Providence Farm

Situated behind the historical Huguenot Monument and Museum, and within 5 minute walking distance from the town center. Laying beneath the impressive Middagkrans Mountains, and a short drive up the Franschhoek pass to one of the most surreal views of the town and valley, is La Providence Farm/Guesthouse! Set amongst a picturesque garden of roses and other indigenous plant, a hectare of vineyards and a Cypress avenue, as you enter the farm. The farm consists of 7 guestrooms, with a very modern and sophisticated interior. The old farm house buildings gives you a sense of time gone by. Each room has its own Nescafe coffee machine, a mini fridge where one can sit on your terrace and enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon as the sunsets!! There is an entertainment area for our guests, a short walk from the rooms where one can enjoy a swim in our 12m pool, or laze about on a sunbed and admire the view of the mountains or vineyard. There is a bar with a wooden deck leading out to the pool, or in the evening sit in boma around a fire and enjoy the Milk way with a glass of 'Lewenslust' our local house wine.

Wonderful property with excellent hosts

Reviewed By MrMiggoo

You get a good feeling about a place when the hosts are in contact with you prior to arrival - it makes things feel a lot easier and more comfortable. Ellen was a great communicator and super helpful and ensured we had what we needed days before we got there! The place is run by a management couple, Ellen and Gary, who used to run game lodges prior to moving to Franschhoek. They are both approachable, knowledgeable and friendly. They clearly take immense pride in running the property and this is obvious from the beauty of the grounds, the gardens and flowers and how clean everything is - this is not a new property but it feels that way! They both personally greeted us upon arrival and ensured we were comfortable right away. Gary showed us the property and the main bar (honesty bar) and chill out area. You can watch tv and have a fire made - the night guard cleans and closes up after you if you do which is brilliant. He also showed us our room and explained everything - it felt really personable! The room was clean and comfortable (my only gripe was the pillows which were not firm at all) and it had a lovely terrace and wonderful shower. You also get a lovely complimentary wine that is made with their grapes! Nice touch. Breakfast is to die for (see pics) - they really give you a taste of the wonderful local produce. You get bread with a toaster, choice of yoghurt and muesli, incredibly fresh and tasty fruits and then a box of meats and cheeses and other wonderful things. On top of this, Ellen offers to cook you a hot breakfast too with choice of eggs and bacon. She’s a wonderful cook and her presentation is on point. Excellent scrambled and poached eggs! To top it off, the coffee is very good and the orange juice is fresh! We were the only guests for the couple of nights we stayed so we did feel like we had the place to ourselves which maybe made the experience a bit unique but I doubt it would be too different when busy. Without a doubt, we would stay here again if we revisit Franschhoek and we will recommend this place to friends and family without hesitation. Keep it up, Ellen and Gary! Very well done indeed.

Incredible stay

Couldn't fault our stay. We stayed for 2 nights in the Marron Cottage. The cottage was perfect for 2 couples, and the bedrooms and communal indoor/outdoor areas were all fantastic and so comfortable. The only flaw was no aircon, but we knew this when we booked and the owner provided fans and said they are adding this in. The service we received from booking, to before arriving and when we were there was fantastic. The team were always happy to help and went above and beyond what you'd expect. The cottages are in a glorious vineyard, and it was so easy to access central Franschhoek. The pool area is also really nice.
