Friendly and comfy if you don't mind a walk to the beach
Reviewed By Phil MOne of the friendliest places we stayed in Brazil, and good value considering Porto de Galinhas is not cheap. The owner didn't speak a word of English or Spanish - seems par for the course in Pernambuco. The room was excellent - spotless and very comfy with good mosquito screens. There's a small lake behind the property so bugs are present in numbers. There's a swimming pool in the grounds but we didn't try it as the beach is so amazing. It's a bit of a walk to the beach through some dirt backstreets. It looks more dodgy than it is - we never saw any trouble in PG - but could be intimidating for a single traveler. We also had trouble finding a taxi driver who understood the address or knew the place. Just minor issues though; overall it's highly recommended.

Adorable pousada, delicious breakfast
Reviewed By Perfect_LadyAfter visiting PdG back in 2012, I wanted to spend a little more time there, so decided to go back for a few days on my latest trip. I found this pousada online and it had very good reviews and availability. I arrived late at night, but had arranged a transfer through the pousada, from the airport and my driver had kindly made contact the day before and advised me where he'd be and to message with any queries. As a lone female traveller this made me feel very comfortable. Upon arrival the pousada was quiet and charming. My room was lovely, spacious, clean and everything worked. I loved that the aircon was so quiet and it had a full length mirror in the main room. After a good night's sleep I went down to the lovely dining area by the pool for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever had in Brazil, many types of cakes - including tapioca cakes (a personal favourite), different fruits, yoghurt, juices, various cheeses AND eggs and tapioca pancakes cooked to order., plus much more! ALL the staff were friendly and charming. No-one spoke English, but I wanted to practice my portuguese. It was set back a little from the main town, but it was a short walk and also a lovely quiet location. A giant supermarket is 5 mins walk away. I loved staying here and was so sad to leave. But I'd highly recommend this pousada to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in PdG. Esp - if like me - you value a tasty and plentiful breakfast.

It's in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance to Charles Darwin center and the shops/restaurants on the island. Manager Carlos was helpful with everything.

Reviewed By Elaine RGreat cabin, great food and great breakfast. This is a 5 star place to stay. We stayed at the two level cabine and we were very happy with our choice. Quiet place and 5 minutes from the beaches and all restaurants. I highly recommend.

Worst customer service
Reviewed By _go_nadzzThis place lacked customer service. Let me say though the younger lady at reception was MUCH nicer than the older lady. We came at 8am and the sign on the office said “open” but no one is around. We rang the bell and pounded on the door to no avail. Finally the lady comes out looking disheveled and angry at us for arriving when their office is closed. What the heck. In addition, we rented a 2 bedroom apt that can house 4 people. We received a quote online for 3 people because at the time we didn’t know our 4th group member was going to join us. Even though the apt can hold 4, we had to pay WAY extra for the 4th person for that one night. It was an additional 77,000,000 COP. What the heck again. Last but not least we got their recommendation for a buggy rental “esmeralda” which has a buggy stand right outside the San Miguel hotel. This vendor was horrible. They charged us 90,000,000 COP for 3 hours and instead of a decent golf cart (which we btw knew was gonna be slow), it was BARELY moving. Even other golf carts were passing us. In additional the steering wheel was not working straight, constantly needing to steer straight again. Total waste of money. What the heck again. Overall, not a good experience at all staying at this place especially due to the older lady at reception. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Reviewed By daisysunshin3We went for a wedding, and while we spoke no Portuguese, felt welcomed by the smiles, the wildlife, the housekeeping, and the overall vibes of this magical place. There is a beautiful gentle hike nearby (~45min one way) that takes you around the ocean so you can watch the waves come into the beach -- go down to the beach and turn left until you can't anymore and you'll find that trail. I am not an avid hiker, and was able to do the hike relatively easily in flip flops. Also, the beach sand was SOOO FINE. Worth the journey. Also, to get there, we hired Rosa Tur (Pedro) was amazing - punctual, kind, and a gentleman.
