Awesome Place with Awesome Hosts

Reviewed By BCGrog

My wife and I were searching for a getaway to clear our heads from our work stresses near the end of April and we found this place and booked Chrissy's cabin for three nights. JC was really accomodating and a pleasure to deal with during the booking process and Dan was amazing during the check in. I can't say enough about the warm hospitality they both bring to the resort. The owners should feel blessed they have them to build their business by forming lasting relationships. The property never stops surprising you. There are amazing modern hotel style luxury cabins, and then there are the beautiful and cozy log cabins that feature some very high tech elements like the heated floor and steam shower in our cabin. There are pull-in slots for RV's, glamping tents and geodesic domes. All modern, and we spotted heat pump mini split A/C units on most ( if not all ) of the units near us.There's even a beautifully wooded area for tent campers. The main office has amazing coffee, a small store and a great hot tub. Every appliance is delightfully modern high tech contemporary and easy to use. The design elements for our cabin included two lighted mirrors in the bathroom, a bathroom barn door, beautiful and thoughtful lighting, and the bed ... Wow. We haven't slept that good in ages. We loved the place so much we didn't even go out for one whole day we just stayed inside and enjoyed the cabin and read books. The cabin features a fire pit right outside. We had a fire two out of three nights. We sat there and drank wine and talked til it got dark. They will sell you bundles of wood for a reasonable price. I think we burned six bundles. There is a gas BBQ on your patio and we used it to cook steaks one night. Worked great! All dishes and utensils that you could need are there. The housekeeping is immaculate. The cabin was so clean and beautiful. You might hear reviews mentioning the highway and railway outside. Rest assured the cabin is quite soundproof and we had no problem with it. The traffic dies down around bed time anyway. As we live near a highway at home, it never bothered us even when we sat outside. Revelstoke is a couple minutes from the resort. It was really quite perfect for distance to be able to flip into town to walk around and enjoy bejng a tourist. JC and Dan, we will be back. Thanks you for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful setting, some essentials missing

Reviewed By mmfraser1

We enjoyed the beautiful setting of our cabin. The cabin itself was very comfortable, as were the beds and bedding. The gas stove kept the main rooms warm, and the shower had plenty of hot water. The kitchen was functional however it lacked some essentials needed to make basic meals: there were no cloths, no pot with a lid to boil water, no tea pot and no coffee filters that fit the coffee machine. We did ask for these, but only some items were delivered. Also, the pull out bed needed cleaning and some bedding.

Disappointed

We were expecting this travel for 2 years, postponed twice due to covid as borders closed ( we are coming from France) and unfortunately we are disappointed by the upper canopy choice. The upper canopy description does not fit to reality, the view is not the one expected. The view from the balcony, the living room and the main bed room is not on Forrest but on the main building and as the main building is under refurbishment so on materials. We have also to mention that all the accommodations we've booked for 2020 and 2021 had accepted to refund the payment due to covid except the cabins.

Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Lac-Bouchette

A few minutes away from the majestic Lac-St-Jean, on wooden grounds located at Lac-Bouchette, the Ermitage Saint-Antoine is a destination appreciated as much by pilgrims than people on an inner quest or travelers seeking natural beauty and tranquility. Founded in 1907 and animated by the Capuchin's religious order, this national shrine offers great quality logging (cottage, hotel, camping), a restaurant and many more activities and services: guided tour, heritage buildings, museum and works of art, walking trail, the famous Kapatakan (trail) of Our Lady (a 215 kilometers Compostela-style pilgrimage) and so much more. The Ermitage Saint-Antoine a must-see to discover... once more.

Fairly good restaurant, decent hotel rooms, nice surroundings

Reviewed By XCGUY

The restaurant was clean and airy, good service and interesting variety of food. We enjoyed the soup, tourtière and the veggie burger. The blueberry pie dessert was relatively small and had too much sugar; we expected a more authentic filling, given its popularity in this area. A bit pricey overall but fairly good quality. Good option for a meal, with few alternatives nearby. Nice lakeside views. Ermitage rooms were OK but small, a bit warm even with an open window in cool overnight temperatures. Fairly quiet overall, good place to sleep in a very nice surrounding.

Very clean and quiet!

Reviewed By Sherryl M

Hubby and I spent two very nice nights in one of the cabins. Now, I am not a camper, so was wondering, lol. However, this cozy cabin has everything you need. Get some groceries, cook up some meals, and enjoy the tv, wifi, big beds, nice bathroom, and comfortable surroundings. Coin laundry is available and we really loved our stay there. At this time, if you stay two nights, you receive a $100 gift card for participating restaurants, so we used ours to have a lobster dinner the day after we left for our stay in Charlottetown. The managers were very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend this place!

Loved this motel! Very bright and cheerful decor, very clean, renovated and quiet. Has a fridge, microwave and coffee maker which were very handy. Loved the closet and dresser space at the back - made the room feel like an apartment. Would definitely stay here again and for longer.

Comforts of home

Reviewed By JanetEisnor

This was our third visit to Corner Brook where we stayed at the chalets. The chalets offer you a place to stay that is as comfortable as being home. We were able to spend time visiting with family and then come home at night for a good rest. Very clean and roomy. It’s nice to actually have a chair to sit on verses the side of the bed if you are at a hotel. Being able to prepare your own meals in the kitchen is a great bonus. I would like to see a bit more silverware and dish ware in the cabins as there is not quite enough if you are looking to have guests in for a meal. My only other suggestion would be for the driveway / parking areas be maintained better to reduce the many pot holes and ruts you must try to avoid. That being said it won’t keep me from booking again as I find the chalets a great place to stay. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to a return visit to Corner Brook and once again staying at the Appalachian Chalets.

Great place where dogs are welcomed!

Stayed in a cabin with our 12 year old son and our dog Pistache. We loved it! The house was super clean, the bathrooms/showers were impeccably clean, and we arrived to find a little welcoming gift (chocolates!) which was a really thoughtful touch. Staff (Jordan and Elizabeth) were so friendly, made sure we had everything we needed and were available for all of our questions. The area is also fantastic and there are so many things to do and see. For those who have more difficulty disconnecting (like our son), there is free wifi available at the entrance. You can expect to see us again soon :)

Really great place! Recommend 100%

Reviewed By Nancy C

We absolutley loved this campground! First time staying here and will definately come back. We went mid august so not too many kids, and the people were very nice and respectful! It was a very calm and quiet place most of the time with a few times people played music and had guests but they were never disturbing and always super respectful. There was one time where a couple staying nearby was smoking a lot of pot and it stunk, but we let them have their fun because snitches get stitches? Definitely coming back!
