The Nest

A relaxing getaway

Reviewed By Candycam1

We enjoyed 4 wonderful nights at the Nest. The food was exceptional and the perfect amount for every meal. The staff went out of their way to accommodate an early dinner for us as we were going out to watch the Choir one evening. They also came to our rescue when I locked my keys in the car. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. It is truly a treasure that has held on to all things good from the past. Sometimes we need to remember that life does not always need to be ahead of the times, to return to the past will bring the peace and relaxation that a true holiday should.

The Old Hatchery - Simply my worst ever guesthouse experience

Reviewed By johnwood2015

Arrived Dec 15. - No hot water - No soap or shampoo - cheapest 1 ply loo roll We had booked for the one night at the start of a motorcycle tour and returned at the end of the tour. To late to find parking for our vehicles and no option to return at tour end. On our return we were heading for bed when a large group of guests arrived drunk and rowdy (11pm). Owners simply allowed them to stay. They partied, screamed and jumped up and down above us until we eventually left at 3;50 am without any sleep. Owners of the Hatchery only responded to my messages at 9;30 the following day. First message sent before 12pm. Bearing in mind we had 1450km drive back to Cape Town the next day, on zero sleep. To add insult were overcharged by R200 rand per person per night and the owner refuses to respond to my messages. (we arrived back tired from our tour and presented with the bill to pay). I paid and only later the next day checked the emailed quotes sent to me.

Great food with special attention from the chef. We had chicken schnitzel and it was amazing. The restaurant was quiet and they had a fire going. The chef came and checked in specially to see how our food was.

A smile is a curve that could put everything straight......

Very good location in a tranquil setting with comfortable accommodation with great views and warm enough during cold nights. Disappointing and inviting (empty) bar with no choice ONE only vodka and a dated restaurant with the most unimaginative no choice poor quality wine by the glass red, white or rose take it or leave it and that in South Africa. Staff obviously lacks motivation and training on basic courtesies which should include a smile or two........With dinner included there is no a la carte option so the choices are very limited in each F&B aspect.....
