Being able to hold the baby chicks, and bunnies and come up close with the horses , goats and even turkeys , is a delight for all the children. Upper Macatawa Cycling Trails

Review of the Mountain Bike Trail: Some very nice land. Rather technical MTB trails. When they say it's moderate to hard, they aren't kidding. This isn't a casual biking course, it is single-track. A lot of hard work went into this trail and it is a lot of fun. A nice mix of some nice long runs where you can pick of speed vs some very technical uphill and downhill sections. Just a little short. Only comment is that it could be marked a bit better. Unless you've examined the map very closely you won't really know when you are going from Red to Blue or Blue to Orange. The upside is that if you feel lost there always seems to be a paved trail running close by. The three loops make it easy to choose your distance but the complete trail is a little over 4 miles so experienced mountain bikers may want to do it twice. It's a bi-directional trail depending on the day of the week. Watch the bridges, if you aren't used to them, get off and walk across.

Played Crestview Golf Club in October. I was amazed at how green the course was. A very pleasant 18-hole, par-72 course. 4 sets of tees with longest measuring 6,040-yards. There is water on the course. The rough was tall enough and with the fallen leaves it was difficult to find your ball.

Nelis' Dutch Village

A visit to Nelis' Dutch Village is like a step back into the Netherlands of over 100 years ago on a day when a festival came to town. Watch old Dutch craft demonstrations and Dutch klompen dancers. Taste 22 kinds of Dutch cheeses, beautiful Dutch architecture and listen to the Golden Angel street organ. Includes unlimited rides on the Ferris wheel, carousel and Dutch chair swing ride. Unique shopping, Dutch cafe and pub, and fudge and ice cream.

We took our granddaughter there, and had a blast. At first I thought it was a bit expensive, but the admission price included the rides (yes, there are only a few), and the chance to see a lot different animals WITH their young. My granddaughter was really impressed. The cheese shop, the gift shop, the restaurant - they all hadl reasonable prices, and unique items. We were there close to 4 hours, and had a blast. I would definitely recommend!

Windmill Island Gardens

Windmill Island Gardens is home to de Zwaan windmill, the last mill allowed to be transported from the Netherlands. de Zwaan still functions by grinding locally-grown grain into flour that is sold to visitors and local businesses. A highlight of visiting is a tour of this historic working windmill. Visitors can enjoy music from our antique Dutch street organ given to the City of Holland by the City of Amsterdam after World War II. Children can also ride on our antique carousel from the Netherlands. There are several other replica Dutch buildings and shops. The Island is home to beautiful gardens which feature tulips in the spring followed by beautiful annuals and perennials throughout the summer. Please note that the Island is open seasonally, April 14 - October 7, 2018. Last tickets sold at 5 pm.

Unfortunately it rained the day we visited, so we didn't get to enjoy the gardens, but we were still able to tour the windmill. The tour was very interesting with a lot of history and facts about the windmill, although with all the stairs we had to take our time caring the little ones up and down. My kids found the antique street organ to be a little loud, but I found it to be really amazing that it could play all those instruments and was built long before computers. They also have a very nice gift shop with a wide variety of wooden shoes and free burn engraving which makes for great souvenirs.

New Holland Brewing Company

Reviewed By Familytravels8799 - Rockford, Michigan

Went on a cold snowy Saturday in February. Got there early (11:30ish am) and was seated right away. Service was excellent, we had our drinks fast and was offered samples when we weren't sure which drink to choose. Started with the chili cheese fries appetizers and they weren't bad. We were expecting them to have some type of sauce on them, but it was mostly fries, some cheese (sorta melted) and seasoned beef. Like I said they were good, but not out of this world good. I had the BLT at the recommendation of the server. And, it was very good, the only downside was that the bread was a little hard, so biting it without everything coming out the other end was nearly impossible. Ended up, taking the top bun off and cutting the rest of the sandwich into bit size pieces, but it was tough to get through the bun with the knife too. The fries were great. Friends got the chips that came with the sandwich and they raved abou them. I would definitely go back when visiting the area again.
