My family recently camped here for 3 nights over the holiday weekend. Even with it being a busy holiday weekend the campground was fairly quiet during the evening hours. The only time we dealt with the campground host was at check in but found them to be pleasant and friendly. We camped in space 2 which had a large grassy area for the kids to play in and was just a short walk to the main showerhouse/playground area. The only downside to this spot was that upon leaving we couldn’t make a left turn out of the campsite to go up to the dump station (which in my opinion is in an odd spot) so we had to take a right to turn around. Either primitive or electric only sites available.
The campground is within 10 miles of Chesterfield – which opens up tons of possibilities for shopping, eating and entertainment. If you are looking to do some exploring around St Louis area this campground would be a good home base.

The dance clubs are gone, but the winding Meramec River and the lush valley that surrounds it remain. The park is considered one of the best mountain biking locations in the St. Louis area. Good fishing, broad meadows filled with wildlife, and plenty of recreational facilities make the park a favorite for people who want an adventure or just to get away.

Castlewood has really good hiking and biking trails with some great bluff overlooks. Not many "improvements" so the park is pretty much set up for hiking or river wading. It does have one playground for the kids.

The facility was modern and clean. Friendly staff provided us with a prompt start. The game we played (Casino) was enjoyed by our entire family, with everybody able to contribute with clues and ideas, including our two 13 year-olds. While we didn't need much help, there was a point where we stalled and the young lady monitoring us remotely, stepped in with just the right level of clue to get us back on track. The next time we have the family all together again, we are going back.

Conveniently located just north of I-44 and off Missouri Route 109, this is an attraction you don't want to miss. The locomotives and trains run on a 12-inch gauge track, and the ride is through beautiful countryside in the shade from a forest. The train ride is about 25 minutes long, and the trains run every few minutes on Sunday afternoons from May through October. This is a great place to take children. The train crews are friendly, and they are very helpful.

Very interesting and worthwhile. This place is doing a good job with injured birds. I spoke with one of the workers, they were going to send two baby cranes back to a preserve in a couple of weeks. I would go back to see the educational program they have.

I love the opportunity to try different microbrews and ciders. It has a very nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere. If you love sampling, this is the place to be. I like it, have fun there and find it is a great meeting spot to grab a fantastic beer with friends.

The morpho madness event is the time to go! Beautiful bright blue butterflies everywhere! definitely hot in there even in February so dress accordingly.
My only negative is that I wish there were more exhibits or learning stations for children.
Staff/volunteers do a great job. You can tell the truly appreciate the butterflies!

We have lived in this area for years and never took the opportunity to visit the giant bright glowing mass during the holiday season.
We took our 7 and 8 year old niece and nephew the day after Thanksgiving.
Lights and displays are really neat. As we crept along the winding road, mesmerized by the creative light displays and themes, the adults in the car were having more fun telling each other to look here, look over there, look at this one.
We us as much fun seeing cartoon displays from the Jetsons to current tv and movies. The animated lights of elves and reindeer leaping over your vehicle are great.
No wonder they give a discounted price discounted price to drive through a second time.
Well worth the $20 for a carload. So jam as many people in the car as you can and enjoy the ride through the lights.
