10 Things to do in Western Addition That You Shouldn't Miss

April 9, 2022 Augustus Redeker

Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

Glad Tidings Church

The GLAD TIDINGS Church that I see is a Church that impacts San Francisco with the message that GOD loves everyone no matter what. I see a Church where worship is so real and honest that it honors GOD and changes people who are a part of it. And that impacts each level and segment of our city: Black, White, Asian, Latin, rich, poor, young, old, educated and uneducated. I see a church that refuses to splinter off into common comfort zones, and strives to live beyond itself building a place that will look like heaven. I see a Church that is filled with people hungry to connect with this awesome GOD in a valid, honest way. The Church that I see has a message so clear that everyone understands that our shared purpose is to love GOD and make HIS love known. I see a church so focused that it refuses to be self-absorbed, rejects the lie that money is our goal, and is passionate about helping others. I see a Church so genuine, outward facing, and compassionate that it reaches out in the face of misunderstanding and overturns the judgments many San Franciscans have made against all churches because some churches have failed. The Church that I see is committed to raising, training and empowering a group of leaders who will look beyond their own needs and carry the GLAD TIDINGS of GOD's LOVE to hurting, lonely, disenfranchised people. THIS IS our quest. This is the dream at GT. This is our direction, and with GOD's help we will become this church.

Our first trip to San Francisco and I wanted a smooth transition from the airport to our hotel. My husband usually takes care of transportation on our holidays but it was a surprise for him for his birthday so I took over. From the emails right up until we were picked up at the airport, everything went smoothly. Once we got our bags at the airport, I texted the number given to me and they sent instructions of exactly where to go outside the terminal ( which was basically right outside the baggage claim doors) to meet the car and driver. Our driver, Elvin, was great. Very knowleknowledgeable and friendly. A veey relaxing ride into San Fran right to our hotel. My husband was pleasantly surprised. Well worth the slightly extra cost. I did tip extra as the service was great and we had nothing to complain about. I would definitely recommend this limo company to anyone visiting San Francisco and needing a ride from the airport.

The Fillmore

Famed rock concert venue.

Reviewed By michelecZ4797LR

Went for a concert this past Friday. For those looking for information on food and seating, if you are the very first people through the door when they open, head upstairs to the left and there's about four tables where you can sit and still see the show from the balcony. There's also a bar in that area and another bar and food available in the Poster Room. If you are lucky enough to secure one of these tables, send one of your party into the Poster Room, there's a variety of bar food such as nachos, vegetarian sliders, burgers, quesadillas, delicious cookies etc. Pay there and get a table number. They will send a server with your food back at your original balcony table when it's ready. Food service is only available on the second floor. As far as sightlines on the first floor in the ballroom, it gets pretty packed, and if you're small you might want to find a space up front. Tall people will have no problems from the sight lines from the back of the crowd.

Japan Center

Explore Japanese culture in the city's famed neighborhood. Japan Center's authentic architecture, shops, and food-plus the presence of the Peace Pagoda-make it one of Japantown's prized landmarks.

Reviewed By 747leahl - Beaverton, United States

I used to live in Northern California and went on Scool field trips to the museums, aquarium, art and science centers. What baffles me is we never visited Japan Center. I “discovered” it while looking for a Daiso (sort of like Dollar stores). When we got there and realized it is a wonderland for anyone interested or a fan of Japanese items. There are many restaurants and eateries, shopping and interesting things to look at it. We love it and even stayed in a hotel across the street so we could visit frequently during our five day stay. Highly recommend as a top thing to do in San Francisco.
