The foundations of this atmospheric little fortified Gothic church date to the 10th century, though most of what is visible now dates to the 1500s: it was once the only church in the whole Donau region, so its historic importance is great, and its charm considerable. Others have described the round tower and the ossuary, and the carved animals on the roof beam, but one of the other distinctive things about this church is the really excellent audio-visual "tour" of the church. It's coin-operated from the gate closing off the nave, and well worth the 2 euros to hear the clever descriptions of the altarpiece and the history of the place (in German and English).
