Chandor Gardens

Reviewed By LettsGo - Mundelein, Illinois

We enjoyed the gardens, they really are beautiful. Then we asked if we could have a tour of the house. The attendant was very knowledgeable, friendly, and gave great explanations of details that we would not have known about. Our experience was greatly enhanced by having the Gardens attendant provide some wonderful narrative and added fabric and color of history and personality to our visit. Memorable, thank you!

Splash Kingdom Wild West

This little water park was really perfect for our 7 year old granddaughter. We had not heard of it; the hotel clerk in Mineral Wells told us about it. We had one more day left out of a month long adventure with our little one, and this place was a perfect ending to her vacation with us. We were there 7 hours, and she was happy the entire time. She LOVED it. The place is more geared towards the locals...families with young children, and it's not just sitting right by the highway. That is wonderful, as it's not super crowded like other water parks we have been to in past years. The longest we waited in line for a slide was about 15 minutes. The park was clean. There were lots of life guards on duty, and they were truly 'guarding'. The food was a bit pricey (yet tasty), but it always is in locations such as these. There were 7 large slides, a large small fry play area, a lazy river and a wave pool. That was plenty to keep us busy the entire day. As we were leaving our little sweetheart told me it's the best time she ever had in a pool or water park.

Clark Gardens Botanical Park

Clark Gardens Botanical Park welcomes visitors all year long. The breathtaking 35 acre oasis awakens the senses, stirs the spirit and relaxes the mind. From the first spring blossoms to the colorful fall and into the stillness of winter there is a sense of magic. Wheelchair accessible pathways wind through lavish ribbons of color and fragrance. Waterfalls sparkle in the sunlight splashing down to ponds and lakes where black and white swans, along with other waterfowl, glide in the shimmering waters. You may see peacocks strutting, or get a glimpse of blue herons or great egrets swooping down, their huge wingspans casting shadows over the lakes.

Brought my mother to see the gardens. She loved it! Everything was beautiful! So many fun things to see at every turn. Met one of the daughters of Clark family. She shared stories of the place. There are plenty of benches to stop and rest if you have physical challenges. We plan to come back in the fall.

I am impressed with the woodwork inside, from the staircases to the courtroom benches it is Classic old school craftanship and has stood the test of time. Just gives You a sense of foundation when You walk in. Always clean and cared for. Stands like a lighthouse in the center of Our town.

The mission of the James and Dorothy Doss Heritage and Culture Center is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Parker County through cultural and educational events that raise awareness and pride in our western heritage.

We went by the Doss Center to see some paintings displayed by a local artist. I did not realize the history and exhibits that would be available for viewing. Lots of Weatherford history and a lot about Mary Martin. There was a lot of Indian history too. It was great.

I have made many trips and stops at the Vietnam veterans memorial in Mineral Wells Texas over the past seven or eight years. It's a very nice place with some special equipment and information on those who served and dad and did not come home. As items are donated or as the veterans are able to purchase items are added. Come out and see the special place. It is our duty to show others and our youngsters what millions and millions of their fellow Americans lived through so many years ago. Normally you will find actual Vietnam veterans there willing to share their experiences, talk about the weather, or just give you a big friendly smile
And if you're able please make a donation. You will not miss it and it will be some of the best money you've ever spent

This relatively small museum holds some exceptional vehicles! Most are very rare and all are worth seeing. The docents really take pride in the collection and are more than willing to tell visitors unique details about each one of the vehicles in the collection. Don't forget to walk next door to the Grill! There are more cars and trucks there and the food is excellent!

Sweet Springs Winery

Good casual place to go for date night or with friend with lots of fans and a swamp cooler to keep it comfortable on these hot summer nights. I Highly recommend the peach wine. Not too sweet with just a hint of peaches. They also have a nice appetizer tray with fruit and cheeses and locally made summer sausage. Seating is comfortable with rocking chairs and nice cushioned patio chairs. My husband and I had an enjoyable evening here last August for our anniversary and the band (Eli and the Hot Mess) even dedicated a song to us. Since then we have seen a few more local bands play here and really enjoy it.

Museum of The Americas

Reviewed By GingerF0x - Vienna, Austria

This extensive collection comes from a private collection of artifacts from North, Central and South American tribes. Although it may seem small it is jam packed with lots of articafts. (Also good for kids!) The people running the museum are very friendly and have lots of information about the exhibit.
It is free of charge and I would recommend all who pass through Weatherford to stop by (even if it is just for 10 minutes!)

Thistleridge Vineyards and Winery

We totally love this place. We started going to Thistleridge 1 month after they opened. Linn, the owner was a blessing! Friendly, always smiling and well educated about the wines. She has only six to choose from, but they are super good. We had her "cheese board". OMG, it was huge. It was well worth the money.

She has a small boutique and has a variety of things to sell. Plus she sells a super tasting BBQ sauce!

I recommend this winery to everyone! Thanks Linn! Mike & Mary Crowley, Texas
