Our family farm is located in the gentle hills above the town of Vodnjan. You can book an educational tour with us to our olive grove and enjoy the beautiful views over the Brijuni Islands while learning all about the production of world class olive oil in Istria. Tour booking can be done by email, phone or best to come and visit our shop in the center of Vodnjan where you can enjoy a free tasting of our full range of our 5 different oils. The address of our shop is on the main street in Vodnjan, Trgovacka 40, (directly opposite the post office). We very much look forward to meeting you and sharing a wonderful olive oil experience with you. Paul O'Grady.
I had an oil shop visit and olive groove tour here with a group of 13 Americans. We loved the surroundings, and all products we tried, including several varieties of oil, accompanied with delicious snacks, local wine and chocolate. Paul took us on the tour through Sta. Margherita groove. It was professional and interesting, discovering many facts about olives and all the process and hard work that stays behind the perfect drop of oil. I would suggest to everyone interesting in delicious oil to make also the groove tour, as this brings you to a new level of experience, realizing how personal this is, every olive has been hand-picked and taken care of on the top level possible!

There is no point in counting numerous awards Chiavalon oils got either for their packaging design or, what’s more important, for the quality of their olive oils. Sandi Chiavalon, one of the youngest and, we can freely say, most progressive and energetic Istrian olive makers, started following his dreams while he was practically in high school. His vision was to use the latest technology in order to get the best from olive trees his family traditionally grew. Since then, he planted numerous trees, and has been recognized as one of the best olive oil producers in Istria. His olive oils were among the first Croatian ones to enter the prestigious Flos Olei olive oil guide, and also, the first one available worldwide. Recently Chiavalon was listed among the TOP 25 producers in the World by the organization World best olive oils. If you’re around Vodnjan, be sure not to miss Chiavalon’s wonderfully designed tasting room. For the complete tour of the farm pls book in advance.
We were on a cruise and as part of one of our day trips we were able to visit this smaller family run olive oil farm in Croatia. We were not expecting to leave with such valuable knowledge of how to judge good olive oil when we return home. The facilities tasting room is decorated very nicely and each seat is laid out with nice China and a snifter of olive oil. Time is spent explaining what to look for in a good oil, what is should small and taste like, and most importantly, how to taste it! Who knew! I caught myself on the rest of the trip at restaurants in Venice and Florence evaluating the oils :-) I plan on ordering some from their supplier in the United States. It turned out to be a real highlight. Thank you!

This is a free museum showing how an Istrian house has changed throughout the years. The museum is tiny with just 3 small rooms so we anticipated being in and out in a few minutes. We were wrong. The staff are so enthusiastic and knowledgeable...MoreHi Martyn, We are glad to know that you enjoyed the tour and knowledge that we shared with you. Hope to see you soon in our "big" museum Istrian de Dignan Ecomuseum

This church contains the largest collection of saintly relics outside of Rome.
We slipped into this church on a Sunday afternoon. It's stately, huge and with colorful stain glass windows. We talked to a docent at the front of the church who offered us options to see the little museum and/or the mummies behind the alter. The tour of the museum, we were told, takes about an hour and the mummies another twenty minutes. We chose instead to buy a pamphlet describing the church and the miracles regarding the mummies. The docent has been there fifteen years and certainly has opinions about the state of the church--very talkative and informative. Wish we had had more time.

Apoteka - Space for Contemporary Art is a flexible concept that works in the space of “in between” - different positions and ideas: as a project space, a gallery, an office, an active agent, focusing on presentation, exhibiting, research, development, understanding, promotion, communication, networking in the field of contemporary artistic practices, emerging artists, curating, research, innovative and creative culture. Apoteka is a project space, where different exhibition formats and a variety of artistic positions, practices and media are explored and made visible. It is a place for artistic and curatorial research and discussion. Apoteka is established in 2013 as an initiative by Matija Debeljuh (visual and film artist) and Branka Bencic (curator) in in the old town Vodnjan (Istra, Croatia) in the premises of an abandoned pharmacy, which is granted by a lease from Vodnjan Municipality City Council.
Very interesting Gallery, placed in old pharmacy as Center for contemporary art. Promotes young artists from Croatia and abroad, what makes Vodnjan more interesting then it was. I had great time in Apoteka, visiting exhibition, and meeting hosts and organizers. I would recommend Apoteka and Vodnjan to all people who love interesting mixture of historical old town, and contemporary art. Beautiful warm place and people.

Our Info-point is situated right next to the Parc of kazuni (historical buildings typical for Istria). It is possible to learn about the history of Vodnjan and receive practical information on the area. There is also a souvenir shop where you can buy olive oil, wine, natural homemade products, kazuni replicas and other souvenirs.
Kažun is actually a shelter for farmers built from a material that could be found all around. It is built only from stones found on the premices without any other bindeing materials. It is really facinating how they do it and in this little park you can see how they are built thought stages. And there is still no entrance fee.

The Pastrovicchio family will be glad to show you and explain you the little secrets of making the Wolrd best olive oil. I have brought many friends and tourists here and they were always shocked and impressed of how good the olive oil is and all of them didn't except anything since from outside it looks a small family house, nothing fancy.
I totally reccomend it.
