We went by buss and it's very easy to get there from Hermopolus busstation. We jused the beds in the middle. By the coffe bar .very friendly waiters. Free beds if you by drinks from the bar. We went next door to have lunch , but the price was very expensive even for us Norwegians. 4 euro for a beer and 7 for. Great salat

Cannot miss the impressive building as one enters Miaouli Plaka - marble abounds in Ermoupoli and certainly no shortage here- Built by the German architect Ernst Ziller who cleverly incorporated 3 architectural styles, Bavarian, Italian and Classical Greek (smart man - he kept everyone happy) Corinthian Collumns on 2nd floor, Ionian on 3rd in central part of building and full length arched windows and vertical windows on right and left wings of building. Wide marble steps up to building entrance. Marble bust of mayor Vafiadakis (mayor of Ermoupoli at time of build) by the stairs leading to floor above. Saw the marble hanging ladder inside that leads to 1st floor.
On 3rd floor are various boardrooms used by the different departments that occupy building - Law Court, Land Registry and probably other public offices that service the Cyclades Islands. There were portraits in one boardroom of King George and Queen Olga and of all the mayors that have presided in this role. Looking down into the central part of the building is a grande black & white check marble floors

Wonderful beach, soft sand and beds for hire.
We used the beach area opposite the small Greek taverna as we liked to eat theit at lunch too. 2 beds and umbrella was Euro 7 but that included 2 drinks which could be worth almost as much. Full shower and foot shower at hand too.
Great place to spend a day until the sun went down. Mainly Greeks, very few tourist and I heard no English!!

Galissas beach is one of the most beautiful and popular Beaches of the island. This is a fully organized beach which offers all kinds of comforts. Reputedly one of the most attractive Beaches on Syros, we were decidedly unimpressed. The immediately surrounding land is mostly scrub and the not quite nearby shopping is definitely second rate seaside quality.
The beach is sandy, relatively small and quite probably hugely over crowded in high season.

Fabulous sunset location. Very small beach area and almost entirely occupied by bars or cafes. But still very cool. Sand beach. Typically we went to other Beaches and then headed to Kini for drinks or dinner and the sunset

A church with an interesting history.
A Catholic Church that has been rebuilt and added to several times over the centuries.
A very commanding view from the top - higher that the Church of St Nicholas across on the other hill.
Very bright paintings.
We walked up (down from St Nicholas and then up here) - a fair hike on a hot day I can tell you.
You can drive up the hill and walk the last bit.

We were lucky because when we visited the church in the evening, a wedding had just finished so we were able to go in and look around. It was magificent inside as out. The church is just a little walk along a stoned road from Miaouli Square, Ermoupoli. Even if you are not religious, the icons, altars, etc. inside the church, are worth a visit.

You can reach by a single track road or alternatively reach by the cliff walk (30mins)which starts in Kini, nett to the water taxi. Take the steps up the cliff. Quite unspoilt beach with beach bar and Taverna. But visit soon, building has started.

Saint Stefanos is a beautiful and picturesque chapel in the area of Galissas built among the rocks. The chapel was built by a fisherman who was saved from the tentacles of a large Octopus after praying to the Saint to help him. It is situated 15 minutes from the main beach from where a small path leads to the chapel. The chapel can also be reached by boat. Agios Stefanos is celebrated on the 19th of August and on December the 26th. Hordes of people visit the chapel to attend the liturgy. Following the liturgy all pilgrims are offered “loukoumi” the sweet local delights as well as mastic from Chios.

Apollon theatre is vety nice, little and cosy, it's possible to visit at 2€ price (but I have seen tourist enter without ticket... )
It's possible also to visit the little interesting museum at 3 floor
Only negative point is the square in front, a lot of car (like in evety road of Ermoupolis), it would be nice to close the area to car.
