10 Things to do in University District That You Shouldn't Miss

April 1, 2022 Hector Krause

In Seattle you simply can’t skip the Central Public Library – a modern architectural marvel of glass grids, unusual shapes, and a “book spiral” that climbs four stories. Stroll over to Pike Place Market to visit the original Starbucks and play catch with a fishmonger. In the heart of the city lies Chihuly Garden and Glass, which will dazzle you with its colorful and delicate works. Glide to the top of the Space Needle for panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and Puget Sound.

Magus Books

This is one of the very best used bookstores on the West Coast. Just about every time I drop by I come away with armloads of books. And more than once, I’ve found a title I’d never have expected to find. I can’t recommend Magus highly enough to book lovers, and particularly those with academic leanings.

We rented a couple of bicycles from Recycled Cycles on a recent visit to Seattle, and had a great time riding the Burke Gilman trail right from the shop. The hybrid bikes they gave us were perfect for all surface types, and they fitted them to us and included a lock and helmets. We had a blast!
