We booked a day trip from The State Department shop. Really good service and price. Picked up next morning by our guide and taken to Turtle Rock and a Buddhist temple, all excellent. Then onto lunch with a family of Nomads and horse riding with them and our guide. Brilliant, loved it. Also visited Genghis Khan Statue. Amazing. Had my name written in Mongolian on a card by an amazing scribe who also put my thumb print on it. Only cost about £10 but is unique and will treasure it forever.

I went there to get to know more about Mongolia. I didn't know a lot about that country. The exhibition is chronological with interesting artifacts. Especially the section about all the different traditional Mongolian clothes is beautiful. Definite recommendation to go there.

This is a nice photo opp, an amazing sight and a good way to start the day. Go there at the beginning of your day tour, start it with a prayer. you can also join in the chanting by the monks in the adjacent monastery

The museum was founded in 1966 and was named after G Zanabazar because of his work for the arts.
Admission is 8000 MNT just like the National museum. They both hold the same popularity in terms of ranking as the most visited attraction in Ulaanbaatar.
Exhibits include collections of various arts from Mongolian artists
It is located at Tourist street and I stopped here after my lunch at Luna (the vegan place across the street.). There is much exhibit to see that family including children can enjoy. Collections that include Mongolian crafts, valuable pieces about 13,000 objects, all contained in their exhibition galleries. There are Buddhists arts, Mongolian painting that represents Mongolian people.
It is very nice, educational, interesting and cultural.

Chinggis Khaan Statute complex is situated 54 km from Ulaanbaatar City, with the view of beautiful natural scenery on the bank of the Tuul River, a historical place where Chinggis khan’s golden whip was found. Today, for a memory of the man of the millennium, a 40 meters high stainless steel statue of Chinggis Khaan on a horseback is the largest among the statues in the world. Inside the statue we operate a restaurant, souvenir shop, two museums and conference hall. Visitors can go up the statue using the elevator or the stairs to the head of the horse where they can have a panoramic view of the beautiful landscape.

The statue itself is a wonderful work of art. But once you have seen it, well it is a statue after all and that’s it. It is in the middle of the city, it’s big and it’s magnificent. An engineering piece of art.
But if you have an hour spare go and simply watch the locals. Many couples after their wedding go with their families to the square in front of the statue to have their wedding photos taken. Watch from a distance and you will see how proud these people are in their national dresses. It’s really a magnificent sight to see. Look carefully, especially at the older generation, and one can see the men’s beautifully polished boots which have served them for multiple years. The women dress varies according to their age and region from which they come from. Nevertheless the older ladies can look magnificent in their brightly colored robes made from splendid colored material.

We booked a one day private tour to look at the horses, other wildlife, the graves and stones and the petrogliphs. Magnificent, went to the horse museum and saw the horses in the wild, saw a wild wolf (extremely lucky) deer and a number of other animals. The beauty of the park is in the clear landscapes, the rivers, rolling hills and plains. Well worth a day trip.

This indoor/outdoor complex has a lot of really precious artifacts from the fairly recent Bogd Khan era. Although there were no English explanations, the icons, art work and artifacts are fascinating. Np photos allowed inside.

This is a not-to-be-missed site if you are in Ulaan-Battar. The temples are magnificently decorated and the statues and other artwork are true works of art.
My only complaint is that they asked for over $20 dollars if you want to photograph in the temples (entrance fee is less than $4)

Not impressed. Pretty run down. 4000R to get in the main building, free to walk around the grounds. I heard there's an extra charge to take photos but I don't know how much. There's a new state of the art building being built next to it and near completion.
