Although Deauville is just across the other side of the harbour Trouville is far more authentic and enjoyable. Long wide open Beaches, boardwalks and delightful cafes. This has excellent Beaches, swimming and just the place for kite flying, walking or being. There is a reason is has been going since the 1880s - pristine delightful and friendly.

Hippodrome Deauville La Touques

Reviewed By R K - Fairfax, Virginia

The Duke of Morny actively participated in the founding of this seaside resort in the mid-19th century and was responsible for building the racecourse. At the time, the racecourse was both the stadium and the casino, and a resort without horse racing was inconceivable. Every summer in August, today as it was yesterday when the "High Society" met there. It is also the unique opportunity to see thoroughbreds frolicking on the beach on Deauville beach in the early morning and in the evenings, as the training center of Deauville. While we were there it is a very quiet place - no racing for a few weeks.

Hippodrome de Clairefontaine

Reviewed By Frans_1Aalst - Aalst

We were there during the British Days early July. This racing event includes galop races, but also some kind of steeple chase racing (do not remember the exact name) which we had never seen. The entire event is a nice experience, especially if you have never seen life horse races (and betting) before.
During those days there were also some activities for children like pony rides, a "jumping castle", pick-nick possibilities, etc..
Also the betting is fun. You can start bets at 2 euros per race and this is a good way to learn terminologie, etc...
All by all good fun for a day of entertainment.

We walked on the boardwalk today at the beach and found it most relaxing. I can only imagine what it must be like in summer and I'm glad for that that I experienced it in off-season. It is nice to see you at the beach with a few people and to be able to experience such beauty in the city.

We went with the family to the bowling alley on a Wednesday afternoon in a quiet period in the season. The manager was friendly. It is not a cheap bowling: 6 euro per person per game. 5 euro's if you play two, but you must decide in advance. Shoes, balls and the rest in pretty good shape!

Boganville, grockel, tattoo wearing, slot machine junkie heaven missing any sense of 007 glamour. Smelly, dirty, passé, and run down. I was 'suggested' to wear a jacket but I've no idea why. Most of the guests wouldn't have even owned a jacket. I ran from there like I'd run from chlorine gas.
