This is perhaps the most recognizable of many interesting sites in Tortosa. For 4 euros, one can tour several levels of 15th through 18th Century history. There are statues, paintings, and many religious relics in a part-cavern, part-museum like atmosphere. It's a little daunting to find; I ran across it by accident, seeing a sign that said, "tourist attraction." This and the castle are "must sees" in the town.

This is a small civilized La Boqueria. It's wine, fish, meat, produce, olives, bacalao, and some dry goods in a small indoor market. The building is well designed and is worth seeing on its own. There are all kinds of shops on the outside of the building that sell everything that's not sold in the market.

Worth a walk up the hills/incline to visit the top part of the fortified city of Tortosa. You get an amazing view of the town and the remnants of the fortifications that would have protected in in days gone by. Look out for the huge canons..sadly without too much info.

This great greenbelt riding trail is perfect for a long (or short) bike ride or stroll. It's protected from cars and continues along a dedicated pedestrian/bike bridge across the river. There it joins a continuation of the dedicated train some 80 km. This path is the site of an old railway track; it has been converted to the dedicated bike path, and the old stations serve as stopping points along the way. There's bike shop right near the bridge; had I found this before, I would have taken advantage of this lovely trail.

With the Tortosa tourism card, or for €3 you can buy tickets to walk through these peaceful Gardens. I'm pretty sure that we were the only ones there that day and the lady working in the ticket office seemed to appreciate having someone to talk with for a bit. The grounds were well kept and many of the flowers were just starting to bloom. It took us about an hour to get through the park. There are sculptures of naked men and women in some interesting positions scattered throughout. Make sure to check out the lady giving birth in the Fountain. You will never look at sculptures the same way after that one! There is also an old wall and remains of an ancient spa.

Interesting Cathedral and full tour which gives out into a closed cloister where you can look up and see some interesting sun dials, large and small. Give your self time to have a good wander.

This is a nice place and you can really have lots of information from the guide, but only in Spanish, otherwise you have to be happy with the audioguide, which has less information. Nevertheless, a historical building well preserved and nicely decorated. A cheap fee for access is required but it worths it

The Museum(closed Mondays) is right beside the Tourist Office and with the Tortosa Card bought in the Tourist Office (7 euros) then entrance is included. Makes sense to start the sightseeing here and then move up to the Cathedral and other places of interest.Map from Tourist Office makes it all fairly easy.
The building itself is beautiful and is in fact the old city slaughterhouse. The audio guide in English is informative. Really enjoyed the film about Tortosa in the 20th century especially how the canal improved the economy . You learn about the famous Cinta Festival (see her image Hall 9 Cathedral) and how olive oil from here was world renowned. Also the destruction suffered during the Civil War. Lots of interesting archival material as well.
Really enjoyable start to a lovely day in Tortosa
