Laguna del Carpintero

Reviewed By moondog45 - Tampico, Mexico

This is a highly touted tourist attraction by the city of Tampico, when, in fact, it is one of the most contaminated areas of water, chemical soup, in all of Mexico. Most of the drainage from the streets and sewers of the city is poured into this body of water. That includes, human and animal feces, oil, sludge, heavy metals, etc. Even the illustrated alligators are trying their best to leave this area, hence their discovery in nearby Neighborhoods. Until the city cleans up their corrupt practices, and drainage programs, this area should have an "off limits, dangerous to human, and animal life" sign posted on all margins of the laguna. Don't go!

Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepcion

Reviewed By COCowboy - Colorado Springs, CO

Like many cities in Mexico, the central square has a Cathedral and typically government buildings and restaurants. Tampico is not different. The Cathedral is nice. It was in renovations when I visited, so I was only able to peek inside. It is beautiful inside, but not much different from cathedrals in similar sized cities. The plaza has a large gazebo and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the Tampico heat and watch people. It is an ok destination, but just ok.

Altama City Center

Shopping Center with an amazing variety of stores, restaurants, cinemas and fast food, there are also options for entertainment and play grounds. Is definitely the best choice to hang out with family and friends and spend your day.

Reviewed By The_World_Tourister - Denver, Colorado

Good place to shop and eat but excruciatingly difficult to park and leave. There are absolutely no signs in the parking lot, people park wherever and however they want and security will do nothing about it. The place is beautiful bright and shiny with a good amount of options but once you have to leave, getting out of the parking lot is also much more complicated than it should be.

This is just the canl that connects the carpintero lagoon with the river. There are a few rest stops along the length of the canal bit not much to do, no activities or anything like that. Might be good for a picnic or just a walk.

Suenos Humedos- Boat Day Tours

Floating Bar that sails at sunset to enjoy the view and classic Rock & Roll. Why would you go anywhere else to get whet? CLOSED AT THE MOMENT. ON STRIKE DUE TO MAJOR CONTAMINATION OF THE CITY'S DRINKING WATER SUPPLY BY THE CITY AND STATE AUTHORITIES PUMPING RAW SEWAGE, HYDROCARBONS, HEAVY METALS, AND OTHER CONTAMINANTS INTO LAKE CHAIREL.

Reviewed By moondog45 - Tampico, Mexico

If you want to just kick back and enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and moon rises in Tampico, get on down to the Fray Andres del Olmos park, and climb aboard the relaxing floating, two story bar, Suenos Humedos. This has got to be the most tranquil, safe diversion in the city. Not only can you enjoy your favorite drinks, and cold beer, but you may also throw your feet up on a chair and enjoy the daily cruises throughout the Chairel lake, while enjoying the beautiful sunset, and watching the assorted wildlife in the lake. Other boats even pull alongside, and order a drink to go. The cruises last an hour and a half, and are well worth the 60 pesos fee. Prices of drinks and beer are very reasonable, and the service is excellent. We highly recommend this "barquito" as a relaxing place to spend the afternoon, or evening. The bar is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 3:00 pm to 2:00 am each day, except Sunday, closing time is midnight.
