What lovely Gardens surrounded by lakes and various types of trees. The Rain trees are majestic and stand proud. They have withstood weather and time. It is such a peaceful place to rest and gather your thoughts. There should be a place like this in every town for the weary traveler to relax. Taiping city should be proud of how they maintain this park.

Perak Museum

Reviewed By Jonathan Y

After hearing about Taiping Perak from my relatives, I decided to take a visit to Taiping. Mainly to visit the old town and other historical sites and attractions. On the first day of our visit to Taiping Perak, we visited Perak museum which is located right in front of Taiping prison. Perak museum is the oldest museum in Malaysia. The architecture of the museum is also nice to view as it was built during the British colonialism in the late 1880s. The parking at the museum is free of charge but you need to pay RM 2 for adults ( Malaysian ) to enter and visit the museum.
In the museum, you can see Malaysia rich history ranging from heritage, animals and cultures. At that time of my visit, there was a honey exhibition where they show you the history of honey, the equipment used and many more. If you are a car lover like me, you will be excited as there is a display of old vintage cars at the side of the museum.
The explanation of the historical items are very clear and easy to understand. The explanations are written in both Bahasa Malaysia and English. Thus by visiting museum, you can really learn a lot of things especially the country's rich history and culture.

Bukit Larut

Reviewed By Jonathan Y

Bukit Larut was formely known as Maxwell Hill. Maxwell Hill is the oldest and first Hill resort in Malaysia which is located about 12 KM away from Taiping old town. Walking up the hill was really fun but my parents and I took the land rover up the hill due to shortage of time because, I heard from the locals there saying that they took 3 hours to reach to the top of the hill.
The best part in this trip was the land rover ride. The ride was really exciting as the driver speed up the hill and fresh cool air is blown on your face. The earliest land rover ride is at 8:30 am. Do come early as there are limited tickets only. I highly recommend you all to come at 7:30 am to buy the land rover ticket if you want to take the ride up. Tickets costing RM 10 per person for both journeys going up the hill and down the hill.
At the hill top, you can have a beautiful scenery of the whole Taiping old town together with Kampung Sepetang. Unfortunately, on that day I visited Bukit Larut, it was a Friday and the cafe at the top of the hill was closed. According to the land rover driver, he told me that the cafe was close only on Fridays. The air at the top is also very fresh and cool. There is also a home stay at the top of the hill as well where you all can book a room there and stay a night to enjoy a beautiful night at the top of the hill. There is also a play ground at the top of the hill as well.
Do be careful of the wild animals like the monkey when visiting the place. There are also leeches in the grass path way as well. Do bring repellent if you are scared of being bitten by mosquitoes or attack by leeches. I would also highly recommend you all to wear sports shoe as it is more suitable for walking.

Aun Tong coffee mill are situated across the main road approximately about a quarter mile away.
They process their coffee the old traditional way.
Try their samplings. They do sell it too & also their coffer beans too.
Do forget to visit the mill when you are in Taiping☕️

Taiping War Cemetery

Taiping War Cemetery was created by the Army after the defeat of Japan for the reception of graves brought from the Battlefields, from numerous temporary burial grounds, and from village and other civil Cemeteries where permanent maintenance would not be possible. There are separate entrances to the two parts, the plots of Christian graves lying on the south-eastern side of the road and the Muslim and Gurkha graves on the opposite side. In the Muslim and Gurkha section the Stone of Remembrance stands in front of a high bank which forms the north-western boundary. The two small shelters in the cemetery have been constructed of local stone, and a low stone wall flanks the road on each side.

A beautiful setting for a special memorial cemetery for our boys that didn't make it home.
It is a very well cared for setting and moving to note how young and how many unknown soldiers are at rest here.
A must visit for all who visit to spend some quiet reflection time to remember why these boys are here.

Zoo Taiping & Night Safari

Reviewed By WondaF - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Had the pleasure of visiting the Zoo and was very impressed with the many flora and fauna found here. Amazingly well maintained, no horrible smell of decomposting animal waste unlike some other places I had been to. Some animals are just roaming around freely, which was such a pleasure! The whole place is filled with beautiful greenery and thus will keep you well shielded from the sun and temperatures are kept cool too. There is a free coach ride that takes you through the whole Zoo, however, the speakers are not working thus no one can hear the poor driver when he shares facts about the animals! A waste of resources in all sense of its word! The zoo needs to look into this to further improve the place and keep the visitors returning. I don't think I will get bored of this place. Love it!

This is a nature place to visit. History of this place is this place found by burmese soldier in the past, and they use it to take a bath. The river is cold and fresh, the source of water directly from the waterfall on bukit larut. We were swimming in this river together with our kids, just need to be cautions as certain stones were slippery, but overall its nothing dangerous in my opinion. We might visit this place again in future

Kota Ngah Ibrahim

Reviewed By pianocello - Shah Alam, Malaysia

I wasn't expecting much as Malaysian museums generally range from mediocre to occasionally good but we really enjoyed ourselves.
The historical building is quite photogenic. Inside, the exhibits are interestingly explained. There are some good photo opportunities with the elephant exhibit and the prison. Upstairs, there are some interesting exhibits where the standouts include the Chinese exhibit and the one featuring an old classroom.
This museum is worth the drive.
