Antelope Island State Park

A beautiful park located on the largest of the Great Salt Lakes islands; features lots of white-sand beaches, hiking and biking trails in addition to a variety of flora and fauna, including deer, bob cats, and of course, antelopes.

We went to hike Antelope Island and picked the 33 Bison Roundup!Started by crossing the 7.5 mile causeway onto an amazing, serene and beautiful island. The Park Service staff greeted us with smiles and pride for their island home. At first bison grazed while cowboys and cowgals mounted their beautiful horses. Soon bison realized riders were near and started slowly but picked up speed;to a run.Huge beasts racing along the shoreline and up a ridge heading for the corral. Park employees wisely kept visitors safe and away from charging bison. After the roundup we hiked Buffalo Trail and saw sweeping views of the Grear Salt Lake.It was a memorable day and location I will never forget.Minutes from downtown Salt Lake; vast wilderness beauty.

Frary Peak Trail

Reviewed By Noelle819

I really enjoy a good hike. I read this trail was rated hard but I would definitely put it in the moderate category. The uphill was pretty straightforward, mostly up but then there are pretty decent stretches of more flat land. Unfortunately, I chose to go up on a cloudy day and then it started to snow. Unless you have the right equipment, I'd suggest not going when the snow is sticking to the ground. The way up was fine, just no real views to enjoy. But coming back down, there were areas where I was pretty close to slipping and falling and definitely had to slide down on one or two steep places. There are mile markers on the trail so it's nice to know when you're getting to the 2 and 3 mile marker. After the 3 mile marker (trail said it was 3.2 to peak) there were no directions and with the snow it was really hard to tell where the trail was headed. I accidentally started heading up the ridge but for safety concerns decided I had gone far enough and just turned around and headed back down. This is probably a great hike on a nice clear day. It only took 1.5 hours up and 1 hr down if you're going at a normal walking pace.
