The Gate House holds the stories of the town of Sykesville, the psychiatric hospital, and the many people who have made history here. Following a line of dedicated curators, the current curator, Jack White, will bring the stories of Sykesville to life as you walk among the pictures and artifacts. Appropriate for children, and if it's not so much, a nice park and playground is directly across the street. While in town, check out the hospital and also historic Main Street Sykesville which is experiencing a renaissance with festivals, farmers markets, and several new businesses.

I met a young lady there to photograph her. I had never been there before, so I did not know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find well kept park, with a lovely lake, easy walking trails, playgrounds, docks, boat rentals and a nature center. Being there off-seasom, many parts were closed. Easy to see that this park offers a lot for families to enjoy in season .
