St. Marys Quarry

Reviewed By iCRUISEify - London, Canada

What a fabulous way to spend a summer afternoon. The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous.
A new experience for 'swimming pool' folk to experience swimming with the fishes. The quarry is very well staffed with lifeguards and children who have not reached a certain level of proficiency in swimming ability must either do a swim test or wear a lifejacket while swimming.
There are 2 platforms for swimmers to jump and dive from and one of them has a water slide. There are 2 diving boards and an area to cliff dive/jump which has been closed the past couple of times we have been there due to low water levels.
Beside the swimming there is plenty of room to relax, a beach volleyball area and a small shop to purchase treats.
There are change rooms and washroom facilities available.
The Quarry does have a summer swim lesson program as well as SUP classes.
Definitely worth the trip to St. Mary's to swim in Canada's largest outdoor, Freshwater swimming pool!

Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum

Reviewed By tdsuperstar - Toronto, Canada

Growing up in Toronto, the memorabilia presented at the Canadian Baseball HOF centres, quite rightly, to the Blue Jays. The memories and fun it all brought back was awesome. The HOF is quite small and cramped. The planned expansion is needed to allow for visitors to better take in the exhibits and I'm sure there are plenty of artifacts not on display. If you're in the London area, it's a quick 40 minute drive or so to St. Mary's. I'm not sure the HOF is worth a special trip just for the HOF in its current state, but if in the area then I would make the trip in a heartbeat. The small town feel is great and adds to the feeling of yesteryear. For $7.50 for adults, it's a reasonable admission price for the HOF. For the baseball fan, I would make an effort to see the HOF!!

McCully's Hill Farm

Reviewed By gandalf2520002 - London, ON

We ended up here after I bought a couple of certificates on Wag Jag for a sugar bush ride.
The farm seems pretty big. There's a small retail store all kinds of jams, honey, and various meats. I get the impression that unless they have a special event of some kind there isn't a lot of traffic. They have lots of different events though throughout the year to bring people in. Definitely fun for a family with kids, and although I didn't bring kids my girlfriend and I had a good time. We took a horse drawn carriage and got to see them tapping the maple trees and the actual syrup making process. Lots of free samples inside for some jams and pickles. The sugar bush ride was very informative and we learned a lot more then we did on the previous tour like this we did. They also had a brunch on the Easter weekend we went, don't know if they have that all the time. Would love to go back for some of their other events, so will likely go back in the summer, or if they have a corn maze go back for that in the fall. They do have small barn where kids can interact a bit with the animals. Another fun part was watching they make the pies, can some of the jams and such, and making the maple syrup.
They do have a washroom, but it's just a port-a-potty out back, but if you got to go, you can!
Service was good, we didn't have a hard time finding out where to go to redeem our tickets, and when we asked what was included in the brunch they had not problems with us checking things out. Everyone was very friendly.
We spent about an hour and a half hear and this was at an off season event and with a tour. Depending on what you are there for, will dictate how much time is spent there.
You can spend as little or as much as you want here. There are prices for some of the special events, but the prices overall for the stuff they had was pretty good. We did end up getting some free selection chocolates but didn't purchase much in the way of the retail packaged chocolates.
I would definitely go back to check this place out and some of their other events.

River Valley Winter Tube Slide

Reviewed By Joy M - Tillsonburg, Canada

I remember going tubing here when I was a kid. It was one of the best experiences I had, and I was so excited for the opportunity to take my 10 year old son to share a similar experience.
The high prices wouldn't be so bad if they incorporated their original rules again. At the bottom of the lift, it states no more than 4 persons per group, but at the top, a hand written sign states no more than 2. We paid $18/adult & $16/child for 2 hours. We didn't get 10 runs out of that time.
We had a group of 5, so there was always one person on their own for every run which was disappointing. Because they have incorporated this new rule, the line-ups take an average of 15-20 minutes...and we were told this was not a busy day. I understand that they are being cautious, but perhaps a bit overly. It used to be the responsibility of the people at the bottom of the hill to watch out for the other tubers coming down the hill.
The fun has been taken right out of this place for me. I won't be returning unless they allow people to take responsibility for themselves and their kids again...I suppose I am not surprised since we are now living in a bubble wrapped society.

GameSpace

St. Marys premiere escape room and game store promises to bring immersive, unique, and exciting new experience to St. Marys, Perth County and South Western Ontario! In the escape room you will be challenged to work together to solve puzzles, discover clues, and overcome challenges to escape your fate.

This store is a fabulous place for anyone into gaming, puzzles or anything geeky.
You can find board games, video games, miniatures for tabletop games, paints and minis for WarHammer and cards for MtG. While browsing, you will no doubt be helped on your quest by their amazingly helpful and friendly staff. Being new to the area, this place gave me the opportunity to find out more about learning and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
They have also recently opened an escape room that I was lucky enough to be one of the first to try. It's amazing. The thought and effort that's gone into making it are evident and it is definitely worth a visit if only to try and push yourself to solve the challenging puzzles they've put in place. The scene is set wonderfully and there is a genuine feel to the storyline that plays throughout.
If you're into anything nerdy, geeky, puzzley or fun, then this is definitely the place to visit in St Marys.
It should also be pointed out that the nearest large town (Stratford) has nothing that even remotely contends with this place so it's certainly worth taking the time to make a visit.

St. Marys Museum

Reviewed By photomagica - Calgary, Alberta

If you like community museums, I think you will love this one. It is based in a historic house a pleasant walk from the downtown Queen Street area of St. Marys. The residential area and park surrounding it make a delightful setting. As you move through the rooms you find out what it was like to live in St. Marys during the great Victorian limestone quarrying era.
I especially appreciated the new archives building attached to the museum/house. While modern in design, the form and materials are very appropriate compliment to the museum/house. If you enjoy interesting architecture this addition is a must-see. I understand it was designed by Terry Marklevitz, a Stratford architect who is the recipient of the gold medal of the Royal Architectural Society of Canada.

Located close to the town of St. Mary's in Ontario, Wildwood Conservation Area is a 3,200 acre playground run by the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. Construction of the Conservation Area began in 1966 after completion of Wildwood Dam in 1965, the first major flood control structure in the Upper Thames River Watershed. Wildwood currently features 450 camp sites, 30 kilometers of hiking trails, and a seven kilometer long Reservoir. Wildwood operates April to October. Day use fees are $6 for adults and $3.00 for children. There is a $12 fee to bring in a boat. Note that Wildwood has 120 wet docks and 65 dry dock slips available for boaters to rent. No personal watercraft. Canoes and kayaks are also available for rent at a cost of $35 a day or $25 a half day. Camping is permitted in the campground area. Maximum of six people per site. Sites with water and electricity cost $45 a day. Sites without water and electricity cost $35 a day. Note that the sites without water and electricity are all in the "radio free" zone and, although significantly more private, serviced by a single outhouse. Yuck! There are no refunds for inclement weather. Be prepared for a long wait on Sundays for the dumping station. One vehicle permit is included with your campsite. Any additional vehicles must purchase an Additional Vehicle Permit at time of campsite registration at a cost of $12 per day per vehicle. Campfire wood is available for sale at the front gate for $10 a bag. There is a swimming pool in the camping area. Camping cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date to qualify for a full refund (minus reservation and cancellation fees). Pets are permitted in the Conservation Area but need to be on a leash at all times. Fishing is permitted from dawn to dusk with a provincial fishing licence. You can fish for bass, pike, and perch. Other notable features include a playground, beach volleyball, and a beach pavilion. In closing, Wildwood Conservation is a good place to camp, especially if you have a boat.

Don't forget to look up or you'll miss stuff. Leave yourself enough time to take it all in. Hopefully you'll find your must-have treasure.
