Burlington Bike Path

Converted from the Central Vermont Railway to a bike path in the 1970s, this easy trail crosses through beaches and parks and offers great views of Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks and the city.

My wife and I cruised this path from Burlington to the ferry. The Ferry was discontinued for the season. There was plenty of variety with views of the lake, riding through quiet neighborhoods and at the ferry landing there views of the distant mountains. There are a number of park benches along the path.

Took a guided tour of the facility, and were rewarded with some really fun design elements. This is really a youthful, fun environment. Naturally, you'll get to see the mechanics of producing the many products, but the surroundings and people who work there make it a great time. Stop at the bar at the end of the tour, and sample a variety of brews. To create memories, take some growlers home to enjoy later.

Come float with us on a whimsical journey above the world below. One of our experienced and FAA licensed pilots will whisk you into the skies above Vermont, where you can take in all of the beauty that the Green Mountains have to offer. After about an hour you'll touch down and conclude the flight with a toast of champagne or sparkling cider, Cabot cheddar cheese, and Vermont fudge. Flights depart at sunrise and sunset daily, weather depending.

This was a bucket list adventure for me, and Jeff our pilot made our flight very special and entertaining. Safety was a huge priority. In spite of difficult wind conditions that gave us an extra long flight due to challenges with getting to a good landing location, we felt well taken care of at all times. And the post flight champagne, cheese and crackers were a lovely touch.

Well maintained trails but no markings to tell you your location. We took a picture of the trail map before we entered and that was helpful but it is a little confusing. The trails are nice and shaded. There was a bench along the edge with a nice view where we had lunch.

Overlook Park

Reviewed By Wendy W - S. Burlington, Vermont

At sunset, this sleepy little park can become a hive of activity. The view of the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain is lovely -- especially when there is a colorful sunset. Young couples spread blankets on the hillside and spread out to watch the sun slowly slip away. Older folks stay in their cars where the view is still excellent. There are often several people with cameras trying to capture the moment.

Easy to get to driving down Spear Street. Also, close to the bike path (but that is not illuminated, so have lights on your bike if you plan to bike away after sunset).

University of Vermont

Reviewed By Bowmanator22 - Charlotte, North Carolina

Walking around the University of Vermont was very pleasant. I was there during the summer, so not too many students. But the buildings were very nice (mostly brick) and everything was kept very clean. This was simply another quaint location in Burlington that fit the rest of the city. Beautiful college town and summer vacation spot.
