My wife and I had the best time renting a boat from Bridgewater Marina and hanging out on the Smith Mountain Lake over 4th of July weekend. Everyone we interacted with at Bridgewater Marina was super helpful and friendly. The boat itself was very comfortable and worked great. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely rent again from Bridgewater Marina. John S.

We are open but operating differently. Visit our website for changes due to COVID-19. As the oldest commercial vineyard and winery at Smith Mountain Lake, a visit to Hickory Hill Vineyards is a must. The Furrows first planted vines in 1984 and after years of vineyard experience, they opened the winery 2001. With that first commercial vintage, Hickory Hill wines began earning medals of excellence in international wine competitions with over 80 to date. A visit to Hickory Hill can include a tasting of their popular "Lake series" of blended wines made in a lighter, more fruit forward style. For those preferring more traditional, drier wines, you will not want to miss the vintage, estate grown, award winning Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. A local award winning Cabernet Franc round out the wine list. In 2005 The Furrows started the summer music series Sunset Saturday. This music series features local singer/songwriters many Saturday evenings from May to September.

A perfect day! An easy drive on the way to Smith Mountain Lake state park. The winery has lots of picnic tables in the shade. We tried a flight which is a one ounce pour of each of their wines. You can sit and look out over the property and the vines. We brought home a bottle of mist that was our favorite.

Liked the fact that there was shade around the course to duck outa the sun. Interesting playing putt putt over the water. Played with three generations and we had no issues walking around the course.

Our family of 5 chose this adventure at Spring Valley Farm to enjoy while we were visiting my parents at Smith Mountain Lake. The staff (Shelley) gave a warm welcome from the first email we exchanged - the warm, friendly atmosphere carried all the way to the very end of our 2-hour adventure. Our guide, Mo, was absolutely amazing; he was very knowledgeable, courteous, helpful and friendly. Lindsay, our back-up guide, was an enjoyable young lady. Mo made sure that our horse's personality matched each rider - and did a great job (especially for my husband - whose horse was stubborn and wanted to eat ... all the time!!) In addition to this farm having trail rides (which were not just nose to butt - you could gallop and/or take certain liberties, depending upon your skill level), they have some beautiful animals including 2 ZORSES (horse/zebra breed), a camel, a miniature horse (very chubby!), a pig, and many other fun sights! We will definitely go back during our next visit to SML! Thank you, SVF for the wonderful memories!

Ramulose Winery proved to be a wonderful way to spend 1 1/2 hours in the middle of the week! As part of our visit to Virginia, we wanted to take in a local winery. Thank goodness Ramulose was open! The staff were fantastic, the vibe was easy going, and, most importantly, the wine was wonderful! They keep everything sanitized, tables are spaced apart, and the entire place feels "safe." The wine flights are the way to go.
