Rawka River Kayaking

Reviewed By endrju_74 - Ipswich, United Kingdom

Rawka is fantastic kayaking opportunity right in the middle of Poland. It's got it's "mountainous" rank thanks to lots of trees fallen into the stream, which makes kayaking trips very interesting but also a big unknown with many places, where you have to get out of your kayak and find another way of getting around the obstacles. You can take a trip as short as few hours or as long as few days. The trip organisers stated that it is possible to start the adventure as high as Rawa Mazowiecka town, and go right to the river estuary into bigger river Bzura around Kęszyce village. Polish tourist society recognises the stretch between Nowy Dwór and Kęszyce as a hardest part of the river, and that stretch got their mentioned above mark. Two best kayak rental places (also providing transport and accommodation) are "Ośrodek Sosenka" and "Grabskie Sioło", both quite close to each other, both located in the village of Budy Grabskie just few minutes drive from Skierniewice. Easy reachable from Warsaw on the new motorway. Big fun for all ages and abilities.

Bolimow Landscape Park

This landscape park, or AONB, was established in 1986, and currently covers an area of 20512,32 ha. Many marked walking trials cross the Park, but the main draw in recent years is the Rawka river with its unpredictable nature. Lots of fallen trees and quite fast current make the time spent on kayaking that river a fantastic adventure for all ages. Mainly forested area easy to reach from capital city Warsaw by motorway, also easy to explore by the network of narrow but mainly good roads. Good place to spent the weekend out.

Zadebie Reservoir

Reviewed By Paul J - Skierniewice, Poland

We came to look at the ropes adventure course by the Reservoir and found the beach packed with people, pedelos, kayaks, and swimming with very good lifeguarding set up. There is a large skate park plus a gym fit trail and paths all around the Reservoir where people were hiking and biking. I was amazed at all the stuff going on in this sleepy market town.
There was beer tents set up and a small ice cream shop nearby, some portaloos if you dare. There is also lots of parking as its a half hour walk from the main town square.

Na terenie Muzeum regionalnego znajduje się chłopska zagroda, w Muzeum Czynu Zbrojnego można zobaczyć trochę uzbrojenia i poznać tradycje Batalionów Chłopskich, przy torach znajduje dawna stacja kolejowa i dalej polną drogą dom Władysława Reymonta. Dojechać tam nie łatwo, zobaczyć - nie koniecznie.

I came accross a listing for this cemetery when researching history on Skierniewice and thought I'd take a look. Not the easiest place to find but a plague on a stone marks the entrance to a tree lined track leading to the small graveyard. It's in a poor state but very interesting in the history of the town. Worth a visit
