Ship Bottom Beach

Reviewed By SO194 - Sparta, New Jersey

The beach is clean and well maintained. Every day we saw the garbage men and the sand sweeper come by in the early morning hours to get the beach ready for the day.
There are no bathroom facilities where we were on 17th Street but our place we were staying at was only a few blocks away so it wasn't so bad.
The water was clear and the waves all depend on the weather but we lucked out with great beach weather.
If you are looking for a family oriented beach it's a good option for you and you won't be disappointed.

Barnegat Lighthouse State Park

On the northern tip of Long Beach Island, this park includes a maritime forest, lighthouse, and access to great birding and fishing sites.

First time visiting and we enjoyed the whole area. The lighthouse is well maintained and has a awesome view at the time. There are several landings with information about the lighthouse and also to catch your breath along the way. There is a nice walkway along the shore, very peaceful. Lots of picnic areas around to eat or just to sit and take in the scenery.

This place is run by old volunteer nursing home ladies who hate kids. Signs saying kids running loose will be kicked out and old ladies screaming at kids isn't a good time. What kind of crap museum isn't made for kids? The exhibits were small and uninteresting. Waste of space and should be shut down immediately. Not worth the gas going there.

Super Fly NJ

Flyboarding is the newest phenomenon in Barnegat Bay! Brittany likes to say it's like a wakeboard with a firehose coming out of the bottom that propels you into the air. The propulsion of water is coming from the jet-ski. The height of the flyboarder is controlled by the trained jet-ski instructor. Flyboarding is very easy to learn for people of many ages. You will be up in the air in minutes

We were visiting from out of town, and bought a multi-class package. Single classes are $20, but a five pack brings it to $16.

Very nice people, pretty organized. They do take credit cards.

We did one of the weekend classes out on the beach. Fun! You do it on a towel facing the morning surf., starting at 8am. It has a nice pace and you get in a bit of meditation and stretching. You might to have sunscreen, as it got pretty hot the morning we attended. Still, an excellent experience.

We also did one of the vinyasa classes in the studio. It is a smallish space, but fits at least 12. I would suggest that you do NOT choose the front row--in the morning the sun pours in and the AC was a bit sluggish during our class. It was again a well organized class.

We will definitely go back! They also have a stand up paddling class we would like to try.

This is my first mani that I have actually removed the polish on the same day I got it.

My friend and I were on LBI for a long weekend and wanted an impromptu spa visit. Two of us requested mani/paid and the third got a 50 minute massage. I called a day in advance and we were all excited that they could fit us in at the same time slot.

They called about an hour before the appointment to postpone because the masseuse was running late so we shifted all of our appointments by half an hour. They cited beach traffic as the reason. Isn't that typical on Saturday mornings?

When we arrived the salon was pretty empty. They attended to us promptly. It quickly became apparent that the women doing our mani/pedis do not usually do them. They applyed the polish so thick that it never dried properly. Hours later it would still get a dent in it if I brushed up next to something. My friend picked a red polish for her fingers and in the ended it looing like a child had applied it with red paint on her fingers as well as the nail.

Our friend who got the massage was very happy with the service.

If you are looking for a mani pedi avoid this place!!
