Wonderful tour.guide.
Tour was not what we bought. We bought a zip line tour, but 4 people had a hanging bridge tour, so we had to do the tour they were going on or we would not get to see the butterfly Gardens.
More false advertising on this company's brochure.
The other people were disappointed also. They were to have a private tour with just their family and Sergio throws us in their group.

Issy's tours was great. Chris walked us through every step and answered every question, even asking us how our your was after the day. Met Marvin on the beach at Secrets. Booked a private boat tour for New Years Day. Had a blast! Picked up on beach by He told us he was called Macho...and his captain. Went to a lovely beach where we saw beautiful caves, then went snorkelling, Macho was guiding us. We then went to Coco Beach which was great, all the locals were there as it was a bank holiday. So much energy.
Then had a windy ride back which was fun.
Between Marvin and the boat team we had a fabulous 3.5 hours out.

Staying at the Westin 1/31/18, made arrangements for an ATV tour. Surprisingly, it ended up just my husband and I with our tour guide, Christian Lopez. We went all around...main roads, dirt roads, multiple Beaches. Stopped to see the monkeys, talk about the Beaches, sand, volcanoes, life. Stopped at a local store for water. Christian, very polite young man, speaks very good English, easy to understand, easy to talk to! I had never driven an ATV...he explained everything very well, made me feel safe....even would assist me in knowing which gear to be in until I got the hang of it. If we ever have the opportunity to return to CR, we will definitely look up Christian for more excursions!! GREAT time!!

Stayed at the Riu Palace Guanacaste & used LAR Transportes to shuttle into both Playa Del Coco and another day to Tamarindo. Both shuttles were newer large passenger vans with A/C. Very comfortable ride, prompt departure and return pick up exactly as we were informed. Not sure that either driver spoke much English, but they were focused on driving not chatting. Having seen the roads in Costa Rica, I think it's a good thing to have the driver focused on the road!
$10 per person round trip to Playa Del Coco and $20 per person round trip to Tamarindo. Both locations well worth the cost.

If you want a custom excursion at a reasonable price with that local flavor, Gustavo is your guy! His company/himself go out of their way to accommodate to your needs!
We had a group of 7 on a charter boat (private) for fishing/snorkeling. Stopped off at the beach to relax, and had a great time.
Wish we had more time to do more excursions with Gustavo!!

Lovely little place with very efficient staff and amazing drink special, with Tequila, two liqueurs plus fruit smoothie , topped off with a bottle of Corona stuck in. They also gave us some nachos, with the hottest sauce my husband has ever tasted! His face was a picture! A lovely spot and all the signed dollar notes stuck everywhere is a nice touch. Some howler monkeys were in the trees but never came down! Oh well.

We were warned at the hotel to not use the vendors on the beach but I had done my homework and had read the Luis solutions brochure and reviews on line. His reputation was pretty solid so when he approached us on the beach we knew a little something about his brokerage and its performance history. We booked an A T V tour for 16 of us (Big wedding party) and saved meaningful money over the hotel price, His subcontractor took us on a relatively easy run up jungle trails to a water falls through flooded roads and streams. For a bunch of novices it was a really good introduction that tested us but was safe. We then booked a 6 person fishing trip with him and again it was a lot less then the hotel's contractor saving us more money. No Tuna but a great afternoon on the Pacific with a solid English speaking Costa Rican captain who was both fun and knowledgeable. Luis is fluently bilingual and has lived in Canada. He is straight forward, works hard to please his clients and came through for us with no problems. Personally, I recommend him and will use his services again if we go back. Look for him and his two dogs under the big tree straight out from the Palace's walkway at the beach. Do your home work before contracting with anyone on the beach as there are some very shady operators who are not trustworthy.

We went on a private full day tour with El Refugio Catamaran last week for our anniversary and what a treat!!! If there were 10 stars, that's what I'd give them! The crew was simply amazing, the service was like none other and the food...DELICIOUS! The catamaran was very nice and exceptionally clean. We did some snorkeling and saw some pretty nice fish. The waters were crystal clear and the Beaches were gorgeous. We ended up snorkeling in 3 different areas, visited 2 secluded Beaches and got to take the "dingy" out on the estuary to see some crocs and to top it off my husband got to fish and pull up a decent size "Jack"! Throughout the day we enjoyed some fruit platters that were almost to pretty to eat, some "out of this world" guacamole, incredible salad and to top it off some yummy skewers! Drinks were served and they even brought a cooler with our drinks onto the beach with the paddle board where we had decided to sunbathe! If that's not 5 star service, I'm not sure what is! We cannot wait to come back and bring the family as this was definitely a highlight of our trip!
