Easily accessable a short drive north of Santa Teresa and Mal Pais. Long stretched, great Surfing, palmtrees, hundreds of pelicans flying by, the works!! Bring your own water and drinks. There is a secured parking and better to leave you valuables in the car then on the beach.

Bring water and solid hiking shoes!! The terrain is steep but well worth the swim when you get to the base of the waterfall. Beautiful trees line the rocky river bank and path. So many photo ops, you will not be disappointed. Just take care to have steady footing. An injury out here would be difficult to respond to by local emergency personal.

When the tide is out it is possible to walk to this lovely little island that is dedicated to a local cemetery. It was very peaceful and inspiring to visit there and as we were leaving, the perfect ending was a rainbow shining brightly over the island.

Me and my friend had a surf lesson and we were Surfing for the first time. The teacher was very methodical and calm. He showed us the technique on the beach and then he took us in the water. We could stand up on the second try!! The next day we went there to rent boards to try our selves. Even if it was Christmas Day and they had planned to close early they gave us the bards to have all day! Thanks so much guys ❤️ /Sofia and Nathalie

Combine Spanish, Surfing, yoga, fire dancing and scuba certification in any combination for 1-12 weeks in Cabuya, Costa Rica. Programs include accommodations, zip line canopy tours, horseback riding, waterfall hikes, bonfires and a whole lot of fun. We have just bought a wildlife rescue center and are building a new campus. We are currently accepting volunteers willing to help with construction while we renew our permits and soon we will have a wildlife volunteer program as well.

La Escuela del Sol truly exceeded my expectations! I stayed at the school for two weeks in July, taking private intermediate level yoga classes from 7:30-8:30 followed by Intermediate Spanish from 9:30-11:00 and Spanish conversation from 11:10-12:30. This was my week two schedule. During week one, I was joined by another student during yoga and language lab. July is the off-season, so there were only three other students on site at the time.
There were two yoga instructors, who had complimentary practices. Mandy has advanced knowledge of anatomy and led me in an exploration of how the different poses can be modified to enrich my practice. Jessica introduced me to yin yoga and also helped me discover ways in which I can push the boundaries of my practice to increase openness, flexibility, and strength. Both instructors helped me make significant improvements in the "correctness" of my poses.
I was equally pleased by the progress that I made during my Spanish classes. Wendy is very skilled at explaining how the academic concepts, such as the subjunctive tenses, are used in everyday life. During the private lessons, she was willing to modify instruction to meet my needs and interests. During the language lab, she shared engaging activities that helped build fluency. For example, playing games such as Trivial Pursuit or listening to popular music and translating the lyrics.
Socially, the experience was exceptional. During my off time I went on excursions with other students, we cooked meals together, and frequently explored the local sodas (restaurants) with the owner, Jeremy. A highlight of the stay was an evening barbeque on the beach followed by a bonfire and firedancing. I also enjoyed practicing my Spanish with the school staff, who were consistently friendly and helpful.
I also appreciated the accommodations. I stayed in the on-site villas, which have a stunning view of the ocean, porch swings, and wi-fi. Next year they will be equipped with a pool. Grocery stores, restaurants, and the beach were all within easy walking distance. For excursions to Montezuma, the bus was cheap and easy to use.
Short version, I highly recommend La Escuela del Sol.

My son and I love fishing and I picked this remote part of Costa Rica for an adventure. Father-son bonding time. Booked 2 days with Miguel. And wow!
The first day out, the boat experienced engine problems (the boat has 2). We decided we couldn't go out for marlin, so we headed in, trolling for Mahi. Caught a couple. Then hooked up with another fish which I let me son have. Suddenly it jumped in the air and it was a big marlin! Woo Hoo! The fish of a lifetime! My only regret being that I let the boy fight and catch it.
Then we caught some tuna and other species. An outstanding day. The second day of fishing was fun, although the fish weren't biting aggressively. We still had fun.
One of my most memorable fishing outings!
Miguel, Marlo and Clay worked hard on both trips. Miguel was very personable (he had the best English). They made sure we had plenty to eat and drink. Having a fair amount of fishing experience, I would heartily recommend these guys.
You may want to make sure you have access to a kitchen, or at least a grill, so you can cook what you catch. Mary's, also in Mal Pais, will cook your catch as well.
We will be going back for more.
A few notes:
- The boat doesn't have as many amenities as center console boats in the states. No seat cushions or cushions along the gunnels. And it was a bit crowded, with three crew and two passengers. So we got tossed around in the boat a bit and had some sore shins and knees. The crew, much more accustomed to the movement of the boat, had no problems.
- They prefer to be paid in cash. The banks charge big fees for cash advances, so bring adequate cash to pay the fee and tips.
- The above tip doesn't just apply to paying for the fishing trip. We never found a restaurant that took credit cards, and many hotels don't, either.
- The water is sometimes choppy. I understand it was considered moderate on our trip. If you are prone to motion sickness, it might not be for you.

Travel all CR & this is by far the crappiset place in the country ! Worst road in all the country ,pot holes size of cars , dust like their no tomorrow , everything is cover homes ,business everything.....Nobody knows how to drive .Quads and motorcycle driving like tards . Also most expensive town in whole country .Totally biggest surfer town in Costa .Personally I wouldn't waste your time if your not an experience surfer...and like a clean quiet environment try somewhere else .Way better places to see ,max stay 1 or 2 days
