This is a wonderful road that for many mikes is along the Pacific coast. Do not use it as a freeway, it is not. Great scenic drive with lots to see and do along the way. Most is one lane in each direction, but the scenery is not something that you will want to speed past.

It took 28 years to complete William Randolph Hearst's lavish estate, which includes 165 rooms on 125 acres.

I totally recommend this tour as it provides a stunning glimpse into the private luxury of Hearst in a much more intimate detail than what is evident on the Grand Rooms tour. Wanted to go to the kitchen tour but it was sold out. Maybe next time.

Nature at it's finest. The best time to go is when the weather is a little warm. You will see clusters of beautiful butterflies in the eucalyptus grove by the beach. Keep an eye out for the owl! There are knowledgable docents and telescopes set up for you to see the monarchs up close.

What an amazing wine tasting experience at Tobin James! First, I was surprised at a review that said that the winery was not COVID safe. That could not be further from the truth. When we arrived for our reservation, all staff members were wearing masks, our temperatures were taken before we were allowed in, and we were told to please wear a mask until we got to our tasting station. The tasting stations were well distanced along a stretch of long tables. What made this winery the absolute best for tasting during this COVID period is that each tasting area had a staff member that poured whatever wine you wanted from the Tobin James portfolio! Every other tasting we did at other wineries in the area that day only offered flights with limited staff interaction and sometimes long waits between flights. The pours were usually not very generous and because of limited staff, re-pours were difficult. At Tobin James, if you wanted more of what you especially liked, your server was right there and more than happy to do so...thank you Kaye! The wines at Tobin James were outstanding with a good range of different varietals at different price points. I found other wineries had increased their prices substantially from what I remember, so that was somewhat disappointing, and really can limit your wine purchases, especially if you are on a tighter budget. Their Wine Club is really different as well and a real bargain for the quality of wines offered, Thanks again Tobin James for a wonder wine experience and please thank Kaye for us!

Wow, with its spectacular views, knowledgeable and friendly staff, delicious dishes and exquisite wine tasting experience, I’d have to say this is a must do experience for visitors who enjoy the fiber things in life. The entire experience was magical, special and romantic. Loved the story about the French Lebanese family and how the business evolved. Really enjoyed the open seating arrangements, strategically placed so anywhere you sat, the views were spectacular. The staff practiced mask wearing and hygiene safety guidelines. The venue is stunning with its gorgeous wrought iron gate, wrought iron doors and interior VIP room. It felt like walking into a vineyard palace with its interior extravagance and European architectural inspiration. There’s a small parking space but that was totally fine since the experience is so well worth it. Highly recommend! The wine tasting experience was very special and well paced. They dishes were thoughtfully arranged both beautiful and delicious. We had the smoked ribeye salad and onyx mezze charcuterie.
