The village of Vlkolinec is stunning twice: for its architecture and for its beautiful location. Timber houses in merry colours cluster amidst forrests and meadows.
Well, every location listed on the UNESCO World Heritage copes with crowds of tourists. If you want to avoid them, come on early morning. Say, 7:15 am. You will be rewarded by solitude and golden light.
The autumn, of course, is best time for visit. You would be amazed by bright red and yellow colours of the broadleaves forrest. Nothing compares to Vlkolinec in mid-October's Indian summer. Pure beauty.
If you have some spare energy, climb the nearby Sidorovo mountain (1099m, 30 min.
walk on yellow + 30 min. steep walk on red path). View from the mountain is no less stunning than the village itself. Simply great!

First of all, Vlkolinec is not a skansen. Skansen is an open air museum with a collection of historical houses brought from other parts of the country.
Vlkolinec is an original village in the heart of the Mountains, which is still inhabited - though nowadays there are only 6 people who are residents, the other houses were bought as a holiday/weekend retreats.
It is a lovely little place - one small museum, which is just a show room of an original farmhouse, one surprisingly well supplied souvenir shop, one very simple restaurant with an outside Seating.
The entrance is 2 euro per person and 1 euro per a car, really symbolic.
And, for your info, you can walk to Vlkolinec also quite easily, taking the yellow sign path from the bus stop Biely Potok - Kovostav, or Biely Potok - Trlenská dolina. It is about 45 min of easy walk with nice views on the way

We ordered for the same day afternoon rafting starting in Ružomberok and finishing in Kraľovany, which was no problem at all. A serious and friendly young student guided us along the river for almost three hours. Our daughters got the possibility to steer the raft after instruction of our guide. Nice surroundings, friendly guide. Fully recommended. Tip for improvement: at the starting place in Ružomberok an information table is missing, with information about rafting in Ružomberok, how to order, prices, contact information. This information is only available at the Internet.

Doskonała miejscówka dla miłośników szybkiej jazdy na rowerze górskim. Bardzo dobrze przygotowane trasy DH/FR oraz nowo zbudowane trasy Enduro. Na miejscu wygodne i niedrogie apartamentowce, jezioro i sporo gastronomii. Polecam!!!

Excelent weekend for me (on bike) and for my girlfriend and our dog. Very well organized trips with skilled guides. Breath taking ascents&views, nice people, good food, fun, service. Nothing to do from your side just sign up and ride the rest is covered. My girfriend enjoyed the surroundings with our dog as well. Try, you will see. Malino Brdo Ski&Bike resort is situated only 2 km from center of town Ruzomberok. The resort is the gate to Velka Fatra national park. There is a gondola cable way and many ski lifts. The longest ski slope is 3,9 km long. There are many types of accomodation. In summer there are many attractions The attractive places worth seeing include the wooden municipality Vlkolinec (UNESCO).

Obrovo is a house of our friend - giant Cutko. He lives in Cutko`s valley and he is very big so people are affraid of him. That is why he leaves his house every morning and he spends whole day in the Mountains. During the day his house is open for families with children, so they can come and play there to get to know him. Children can jump on giant`s bed, play Giant`s ludo, etc.

My little one was looking forward to Obrovo fun. The best about this place was the location. It is in the valley, easy to find when you enter the city. Not many attractions for kids. I expected this place to be larger with more fun. One visit was enough. Don't think will visit again

Ett måste om man är i området. Jättefint vattenfall med klart fint vatten. Går utmärkt att bada då det är som en liten pool runt omkring. Gå även upp och se utsikten ovanifrån!
