We visited during dry season and were lucky with most animals. We saw caymans, caphybaras, pink dolphins, sloths, howler monkeys, other types of monkeys, birds (so many birds) and piranhas. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the anaconda. The river is really beautiful with all the trees and life around it. It is absolutly the place to go when visiting rurrenabque!

I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Our trip into the jungle was fantastic from start to finish. We did a 4 day/3 night stay and I only wish it could have been longer. We were the only 2 there and we were treated like kings! You go further into the jungle than the other camps so it feels like a true adventure. Gilder our guide was superb. His English was excellent and he told us so much information about the jungle. We saw capuchin, spider and squirrel monkeys, capybara, tortoise and loads of birds, reptiles and insects. And best of all - we were lucky enough to see a jaguar - twice! The accommodation and facilities were far better than many of the B&B's we stayed in in South America. Pedro was our chef and we ate the best food we had in all our time in Bolivia in the jungle. Delicious! Overall this was an unbelievable experience well worth every penny.

Canopy Villa Alcira

This agency is run by a local Tanaka community of 20 families and organise canopy tours on steel cables trough there huge territory next to the madidi national parc.
Me and my girlfriend went there by the advice of a friend running a travel agency and were very surprised by the quality and the beauty of this tour.
We had two very friendly and professionnal guides for us two for this 4h tour starting at 8am.
First we took a boat to the community site located 15mn from rurre, this is a jungle place surronded by montains and the rio Beni, then you walk for 1h in a beautifull trail trough the jungle were we saw monkeys and tucans and had good informatins on trees medicinal plants, and local life, a little ing to the top of a small hill and there things serious start !
They have 9 platform on the top of huge jungle trees and 1200m of steel cable. All the installation has been remade in 2011 and all seem very safe and profesionnal (altough I'm not specialist). The equipement look also very safe and you have a small training and explanations by the guide before starting.
The trip was awsome, you get a lot of speed and adrenaline in those huge cables and you have an amazing vue on the canopy with some birds and also in tje begining on the river an montains, at the end you are more riding inside the forest wich is also amazing, we had so mutch fun!
My girlfriend was very scared and she made it in tandem with one guide and felt very safe.
To summerize it was one of our best ,funniest and most original experience in all dangerous things we did in Bolivia.
First we thaugh it was too expensive(250bs) but considering the hugeness and quality of the installation and service it is realy worth (and you can low the price a little bit).

Fluvial Tours

We did both the Pampas and the Jungel tour with Fluvial. The company is cheap and the guides good. BUT I still regreat going with this company cause it's not eco friendly. In the lodge in Pampas they just throw everything straight into the river and on the Jungel tour you go fishing. Fishing in the Madidi national park is illegal!!! We didn't know that at the time so that made us very very upset. Not okay! Not us but two in our group eat a beautiful catfish they caught wich was horrible.
So if you care more about saving money then the environmental and the animal you're there to visit then go with this company. Otherwise choose a eco company. I really regret not doing it. I thought being a backpacker was a excuse for chosing the cheapest option but it really is not. I really regret it now and saving those 30-50 $ was not worth it. Don't do the same mistake.

Excellent! Had an amazing time with Indigena! The Pampas is incredible, food at camp is outstanding and plentiful and enjoyed all the tours hugely. Due to seasonal differences it's not always possible to see Anacondas etc but hugely appreciated that they're not just caught in advance so you can see them like some agencies do. Luis was a really good guide, very friendly and extremely patient and relaxed as well as being very knowledgeable about the region. It may have been slightly difficult for non-Spanish speakers to understand but that wasn't an issue for me luckily. Even without the language, I think people would appreciate the tours as he was always willing to stay for longer to appreciate the surroundings. Office staff extremely helpful and friendly too! Bring lots of repellent and suncream and you should have a great time!

We took the 3Days/2Nights tour with Madidi Jungle. We were welcome with great professionalism. We were guided by people who know their job and the jungle. We stayed at the Madidi Ecolodge. The lodge was just perferct. Mosquito nets in our 2 bedrooms, nice and very clean private toilets. Food was just perfect. Made fresh and with local products. Alex (at the Rurrenabaque Office) organizes everything for us in order to make our tour perfect with our 3 kids. About the tour, we & the kids learned so much about plants, medecine, & culture.
Thank you so much.
