10 Things to do in Roda de Bara That You Shouldn't Miss

July 7, 2021 Rosalyn Ihle

Roda de Barà is on the Costa Dorada, in the Baix Gaià region of the Catalan county of El Tarragonès. It is near the ancient Via Augusta built by the Romans in the first century. El Roc de Sant Gaietà, a typical Mediterranean-style fishing village, is a quaint attraction. Visitors enjoy the Mediterranean climate and the beautiful, unspoiled beaches, with fine sand and clean waters.

El Roc de Sant Gaieta

We walked here along a scenic coastal path from the beach at Roda de Bara. It took about 20 minutes and the path is fully paved so you don't need walking boots or special footwear. In Roc de Sant Gaieta, you will find a picturesque, quirky little town with a number of quaint shops and restaurants seemingly sitting on top of each other. There are lots of narrow walkways and tunnels with eateries all around the outside overlooking the water. It's definitely worth a visit if you're staying nearby!

Two thousand years and still standing proud on the Via Augusta leading straight into Tarragona, the ancient Roman capital on the Soanish Mediterranean coast. Both are well worth a weekend visit from Barcelona.
