Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Company

Okay, I get it. If you want to get to CT from middle Long Island, then this is the way to go. The Orient Point Ferry takes you to New London, which is much further North and Bridgeport.
And I guess you could award it "Excellence" because it always stays on top of the water. But, the ferries are dated inside, uncomfortable seats, smelly rest rooms, VERY unhealthy food, liquor, wine and beer (not the best idea for people who are driving)and the worse part NO INTERNET. I mean, come on, how hard would it be to provide WiFi on these boats? So, Yeah, I will continue to use it because I have no choice. And perhaps the issues I described above will remain because the Steamboat Company knows there is no competition. So why bother?

The place was amazing so much grapes. The area for the tasting was totally comfortable and invited to stay. Had a couple of sparkling wine tasting, and bought some wine

Beautiful beach with high cliff like dunes, and large rock formations. We were there on a windy choppy day in October to walk the shoreline. I am unsure how this beach is for swimming, but there seemed to be more sand than is normally found on the Sound side of Long Island.

Calverton National Cemetery

I have been to several national cemeteries and this one is great like so many others. It is very well taken care of and neat.

Notable graves include:
Lt. Michael P. Murphy, Navy SEAL (of 'Lone Survivor' fame).
WWII and Korean War fighter ace, Gabby Gabreski.

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE NEARBY GRUMMAN MEMORIAL PARK
which has an A-6 Intruder and F-14 Tomcat on display in a nice little park environment.

Cedar Beach

Cedar has always been my favorite north shore beach. It always feels like that even if it's crowded, like July 4th, there is still plenty of space on the beach. It's great for younger kids because there usually isn't a strong undertow. Most of the time everyone's polite, friendly, and neat.

A great place to relax but you need to go early to secure a table or bring your own folding chair. Don't go for the food though, its very basic and slightly expensive. There is a fishing store attached for grab and go fishing things like bait.

Bartlett Pond Park

Reviewed By Richard S - Scottsdale, Arizona

My wife (her maiden name is Bartlett) and I visited this past summer and we found several interesting things here including a Longwood Memorial Honoring its Veterans from WW II, and also the Global War On Terror. Also there is a one room school house built in 1835. There was free easy parking and the 4.35 acre pond(Spring Lake) and vegetation were nice. There is a small playground and picnic area. This is for residents only but we were visiting and had no problem walking around and taking pictures. There were no facilities that we could see.
