My friends and I decided to have a last minute girls getaway to the Heidel House. We called Thursday and were accommodated for every treatment we wanted for Saturday (48 hours later). Although it was a busy day the spa was relaxed, comfortable, quiet etc. Everything was perfect. The steam room and hot tub were gorgeous--the facial I had (by Emma) was the best ever. This place understands that waiting and wondering if you are going to be called soon and feeling rushed detracts from the overall experience. Every detail was perfect. Can't recommend highly enough.

Very friendly service. Up to 8 free tastings of wine, hard cider or craft beers. We found several that we liked and purchased. There was live folk music (Friday evening). They had brick oven pizza with unique specialty pizzas. We had the scape goat- delicious! Pleasant atmosphere. It was busy but plenty of room to move around.

Larson's Famous Clydesdales

Reviewed By Richard K - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

This is a working Clydesdale Farm near Ripon, WI, and a different type of attraction. Judy Larson pretty much does it all, from taking calls to taking tickets to conducting the tour, to manning the gift shop. Her husband provides demonstration assistance in harnessing and showing the horses. It is interesting if you're an adult, and while they try to make it fun for kids, it falls short in this area. We had our three grand kids with us (ages 4-9) and they had more fun playing with the cats on property, than listening about the horses. The reason for this is that while Judy is fact-filled, her talks tend to drone on, with no other point of reference (pictures, showing the horses as she talks about them, etc.). Most of the crowd was seniors and this is probably the best audience for this attraction. Prices are reasonable, and you don't have to walk much, plus they have a covered grandstand in the event of rain, so it's good for those with an interest in learning more about these fabulous horses.

Four of us attended a concert by Tom Chapin and were most impressed by the facility, the renovated interior, the sound quality, and best of all the concert itself. Tom entertained us for nearly 2-1/2 hours with wonderful work in guitar, banjo, and auto harp - of course he can sing too. He even played one of his older brother Harry's songs - "Cat in a Fiddle", and did it justice. A must see for tourists to stop at.

The Little White School House, Birthplace of the Republican Party

Reviewed By podrozniczka60 - New Jersey

This place was a bit of serendipity for us and we were lucky to have met a very interesting and competent guide passionate about local history. The Little White Schoolhouse built in 1853 is apparently considered the birthplace of the Republican Party. The interior of the schoolhouse consists of many important artifacts, old school furniture and one can find a lot of information about the antislavery movement and the Republican Party. The markers just outside the building provide a lot of detailed information. This is a recommended stop while in Ripon.

We attended a ?Christian conference for a week, happening at the Green Lake Conference Center. The Center is in a beautiful location by the lake and it is one of the best I have visited, besides Billy Graham Center in Asheville, NC. The GLCC is a bigger compound and mostly very well maintained. The cafeteria food was just awful, they really need to do something about it. I had to beg to have some Chicken Tenders and Corns from the Kids Menu! One can rent bike, boat, tour the ground or go and swim in the lake or just sit and enjoy the view and quiet time in one of the Adirondack chairs.
We also visited the Heidel House Resort and Spa and had a drink, beautiful grounds. Overall, as this being my first time in the Mideast, I truly enjoyed the change of landscape. Although it seems there is not much respect for the pedestrian crossing I this part of the USA.

Our friends recommended we take this boat tour - it was very educational and entertaining. Cletus the Captain was training a new guy - Gary and Gary did a great job - he definitely knows a lot about the lake. Cletus was socializing with the passengers and that was very nice! The tour was an hour long as advertised. The afternoon cruise was to include soda or water and there was no mention of either of these. It was very hot out and the water would have been really refreshing - so not sure what happened there. We were sitting on the upper deck and not one person that I saw got water or soda - fyi. Cannot speak for the lower deck - but there was no mention of it over the speaker at any point. I believe that if things are advertised they should actually happen. Overall cruise was a fun way to get to know Green Lake!

Green Lake is a great place for a weekend on the water and Action Marina has all the toys you need for fun. We've rented a pontoon boat from them twice and both times the service has been fantastic. So friendly and helpful. The boats are new and in great shape. They also rent tubes and other ride-on water toys - so fun. We'll definitely rent from them again.
