Isla de Coral

Reviewed By Esther G - Calgary, Canada

Took a refreshing boat ride with a glass bottom boat from the beach, literally you step onto the boat from the water's edge, we took the tour from in front of the Decameron Los Cocos, in Rincon de Guayabitos, for $14 Canadian, to the Isla de Coral. The boat driver took us on a bit of a scenic tour past Los Ayala, Turtle Beach, and Kissing Beach and on to the destination. There is a dock at Coral Island and lots of helping hands to get off the boat. Having the glass bottom we did see fish in the water by the island. Once off the boat its a primitive path to the sandy beach, with rentals available for tables, chairs, umbrellas. Not much shade but we managed to find a shady corner of rock face on the beach. The entry into the water off the beach is sandy but also is full of rocks, and you have to float over the rocks to begin snorkelling. There were a small variety of fish to see, it was worth the visit. We brought our own water and sandwiches so we did not need to buy anything at the snack area which I'm not sure is open every day. The boat driver arranges with you a time for pick up, usually 3 hours after drop off and announces his arrival on a blow horn to take you back to Guayabitos. I am glad we were able to see the area for a reasonable price.

We found Lenny's flyer in San Pancho and decided to take a break form the beach to journey into the countryside. We could not have been more thrilled with this experience. Lenny was very personal, friendly and accommodating. The horses were well manured and well trained. The ride took us through the back country on a trail that weaved past farms, lakes and through creeks. It was so nice to experience the jungle and to gallop on the beach. Lenny also bought us some beers and a great lunch. This tour is a must do in Lo De Marcos and Sand Pancho region, you won't be disappointed and in fact could be missing out if you don't do this. Thanks Lenny

Playa Chacala

Beach and village about 60 miles north of Puerto Vallarta.

Reviewed By Randyfish - Eureka, California

Playa Chacala is a small, somewhat secluded beach, off highway 200 near La Penita. Reportedly there are only around 300 families living here and it lacks the infrastructure of Sayulita or San Pancho but it has a charm all its own. The sheltered crescent bay with its hard sandy beach is excellent for swimming, boggie boarding, and SUP. The day we were there you couldn't have surfed because the waves were small and closing out. But lots of families and tourists were enjoying the warm sun and water.
All along the beach there are small restaurants and bars serving mostly fresh seafood dishes. The food was good, the service was "lazy" meaning they were not in any rush for us to leave.
All in all, Playa Chacala is a nice place for a day trip from PV or Sayulita.

Deb and Betty provide an authentic Mexican food experience. This is the third year I have attended and it is a highlight of my annual trip to this area. In the last class, we sampled empanadas which were excellent and received complete instructions to make them at home. Class is accompanied by very excellent Margaritas. I have also found the attendees to be very amicable and have made several friends as a result. I have also mastered Chiles Rellenos!

I booked service from the Puerto Vallarta airport to Guayabitos because of the price being so much better than anybody else. What I didn't expect was the incredible customer service. The day of our flight other flights to Mexico we being disrupted because of weather in other areas. During my plane change in Phoenix I received text updates from Dalia indicating some changes to what had been previously set up. No problem because the drivers was waiting when we arrived 30 minutes ahead of schedule. She was tracking the flight the entire way.
Vehicles were clean and all had seat belts. The ride to Guayabitos included a stop at Walmart. I needed to get some pecos and the driver said the ATM at Walmart was the best option.
I highly recommend them.

We have been using this great service for the past 3 years to transport us from the Puerto Vallarta airport to Rincon de Guayabitos. Booking our reservation online thru their website, has always been easy and any following correspondence, with Gilberto via email was answered quickly. When we arrive in PV our driver was at the entrance with our name on a sign. We made a stop at the Walmart near Bucerias along the way to get some necessities. Our driver was very professional and cautious throughout the trip. We highly recommend Jaltemba Transport.
