We went Sunday right at ten am to go apple picking. There was only five rows (each only approximately half picked already) and were able to pick two varieties of apples- honey crisp and gala. The honey crisp were extremely large but very tasty. The gala were reasonable size but not ripe yet. It took us ten minutes to fill our two bags (one small one large). It was rather disappointing for our "day at the orchard". We put the apples in the car and decided to check out the activities area, however we were very disappointed that it was 15$ per person, even adults who wouldn't be "riding" anything. It seemed extremely steep and we chose to just stay in the free area (fun teeter tatter) and have a lemonade and cheese curds (both very good!) We then headed to the market were we tried a few things. We found the zucchini bread to be very dry when we got home. I will choose other apple orchards in the future this did not deliver the apple picking experience we were looking for and the activities area was very expensive. We were also disappointed by the number of people who were smoking on the grounds after it being marked a smoke free environment.

We recently had our wedding reception here. The venue has a great vintage vibe. It reminds us of the resort from the movie "Dirty Dancing". The entire event was great and our guest had a great time. The golf course is well maintained, and although it has some very challenging holes, anyone from beginner to pro can have a fun time playing.

Good ski spot close to Chicago.

-Quick (about hour) drive from downtown Chicago.
-Ski runs are short, but fun and interesting. There are some good areas for jumps and tricks as well.
-Rental equipment was a bit old and could use an update. The rental process is also kind of weird. They just tell you to pick out your own boots and you leave them when you’re done—nobody confirms that they’re returned.
-The food at the cafeteria was surprisingly good—pizza was delicious.
-There are a couple bars and they had good live music while we were there.
-All the staff were friendly.

Will definitely go back next time I want a quick ski trip in the area.

Route 12 Bar & Grill

Reviewed By sh1520 - Crystal Lake, Illinois

Went here on a Friday morning at 11 AM to meet some friends for a Bloody and some lunch. Turned into a marathon day-drinking event until 6PM, but what the hell? I'm glad I started out with their signature MEGA MARY! It was a meal + a drink. A LARGE drink too. Underneath the skewers of veggies, pickle, mini burger and brat, hot wing, and assorted cheeses, was a filled to the rim mug with great homemade bloody mary mix. It was awesome.(The pics are NOT exaggerated) And a bit filling. But, I rounded out the day with $2 bottles of Miller Lites, and a couple orders off appetizers. We had the Rueben bites, and Southwestern Eggrolls. They were both great. Bartender was friendly and fun, and the customers I encountered were as well. What's with the flies though?? I regard this as a "roadhouse" type of bar, so they didn't bug me too much. (pun intended) Parking was the only reason I didn't give this review a 5. I was lucky to grab a good spot, but it is limited. And the little "road" that encircles the bar looks like it's been used for artillery practice with all the potholes. But so what? I'll be back!

Halftime Bar and Grill Sand Volleyball

Reviewed By ritapawl - Ingleside, Illinois

We've eaten here on several occasions (not during the dinner hour), and the service has always been extremely slow.

We liked the pizza, esp.
the thin butter crust one. The ribs are very tender. But the wings had a very hard breading and what they call "potato skins" is really just a whole potato cut in half with the skins toppings.

Probably a fun place in the summer with volleyball.

But we probably won't be back because of the service.
