San Tan Mountain Regional Park

Reviewed By EJISK - Bowling Green, Kentucky

My wife and I went for a couple of hikes at San Tan Mountain Regional Park in late December, and as always, it was pleasant, pretty easy going, and restful (to get away from traffic, stores, general noise, etc.). There are a number of trails to walk on your own, and sunset and moonlight tours with park rangers, horseback and mountain bike riding etc. Easily accessible, and with a wonderful little on-site museum (with Hohokam Indian artifacts and some native fauna), and a small but pleasant gift shop. Recommended!

Encanterra Country Club

Much of Encanterra's success has been carried upon the broad shoulders of its stellar Tom Lehman-designed golf course. The course boasts an all-too-rare core style layout, reminiscent of the storied old country clubs of the Southwest. Set with panoramic views of the Superstition and San Tan mountains, the core layout folds the course inwards, away from residences and all distractions.

My wife and I have had lunch there on several occasions. The menu is extensive, the service is excellent and the view of the golf course is worth the visit. If you crave a relaxing lunch in wonderful surroundings I strongly suggest you give Encanterra a try.

Entire time we were there the place was crowded. We went on the tour and found it to be informative and got to sample the top shelf olive oil they are selling in a special bottle. Since it was so crowded we decided not to eat there. One of the workers did let us know that if you spend $100 they will ship it to your home for free. Works great for out of towners.

Arizona Speedway

This was our second visit to Arizona Speedway a 3/8 of a mile dirt track
Entry fees were $15 for my child bride and $12 for this old senior citizen. The facility itself is decent and well maintained. The grandstands are all metal and are in very good condition. Sightlines are good too. The PA system works quite well.
The racing this evening was very competitive. The weather was Arizona Monsoon iffy with wind and dust, luckily from behind, and a great lightening show all around. Not close enough to make one nervous but you still kept on eye on the weather.
A downside is that there is no leaderboard or lap counter. A lap counter would be particularly nice although when the white flag flies you know there is only one lap left. This track is a no B.S. track racing starts and then goes until there is no more. This particular evening racing started a bit early because the weather was in doubt. There was no interminable downtime between races.
There is ample free parking in a huge dirt lot with flaggers directing you in. Restrooms are porta-potties.
If you are a race fan I think a trip here is well worth your time. Arizona Speedway is a sister or brother to the Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande, Arizona.

There is a lot to do and see here. However, we came primarily for the rodeo and weren't disappointed. Barrel racing, roping, bull riding, bronco and more. We had box seats which we liked because it gave me some freedom to move around and photograph from ground level. Like any rodeo, there can be gaps between events and even between riders. Especially the bull riders because it takes a while for them to get set up and call for the gate to open. Like I've said in my other reviews, a picture speaks a thousand words....so I've included a few here. Enjoy. chrisandersonimaging

We stayed here in their RV camping area. Today is our last full day here. There are two reasons we stayed here. One, our son lives 10 minutes away and two after calling several different places this is the only one who called me back. Apparently be under 55 years of age, having dogs and only need a site for a week is a issue. Anyway, this little RV camp is your basic place to stay. It’s not fancy by any means. It doesn’t offer WiFi or cable and it’s small. Site are few (call head). It’s quite, large, places to walk and walk your dogs. Your RV is on dirt. Kinda like dirt and gravel. Was not a big deal for us. You get basic hook up. Water, sewer and power. There is one washer and one dryer. No picnic table, no concrete. Quite (except for the occasional train). Spaces are ok in size. There is a small store that offers seasonal produce and canned items. There is a Fry’s store with in 10 minutes. They also have a cafe for breakfast and lunch. It is like staying on the farm. Yes, we would stay again. The price is also very reasonable. 30 or 50amp service. Just remember Queen Creek, Az can be difficult to get to, especially with the traffic. But, over all for us it was worth it!

My mother and I are loyal customers here and absolutely love the services provided. If you are considering visiting this spa - I would highly recommend it. Gabby is an amazing esthetician. She gives unreal manicures and pedicures! Bobbi-Jo is a great massage therapist as well.

I took my sister and her family horse back riding (none of them had ever rode before). The park was nice but the horses were truly beautiful. Our guide, Matt, was friendly, patient and funny. My niece and nephew were nervous but he had them smiling and wanting to go horse back riding again before it was all said and done. Definitely worth the time and money!!!
