Despite making it clear we were well capable of making the journey without assistance, we were closely tailed by two female touts who followed us down and pointed out obvious things like the waterfall at the end of a tough 45mjnute downhill trek, and toilets. We should have had a dip at the falls, but forgot to take respectable bathers, so on way back, a tough tear 1,20 mini climb, the helpers, who it appears we had engaged, pushed us, fanned us, and we had to regularly stop for one of the pair to catch up(which worked in our favour(
The. We had impromptu calf and thigh massages...it was very entertaining and well worth the 2000 is tip eack. The falls are amazingly big, and lots of watery stuff flowing.

Botanic garden is nice and also generally cool because it is on higher altitude. The price for foreigners to enter is far too high compared to locals (about 10x more!). Lots of locals were having picnics there for the weekend. When visiting from Mandalay or elsewhere, you can put in a one-night stay as well in the town. Small town with good eateries.

When you arrive at the car park you think that something special is about to happen as the car park is full of people. Walk the short distance to the cave and there is almost a mini market place of stalls and heaps of people splashing about in a small stream coming from the cave.
As it's a shrine you need to remove footwear, but it's very welcome as the floor is wet, and cold ---- lovely.
We had a bit of a dispute with the Buddhist's at the entrance over our camera fee. Not that I'm unhappy with the 100 Kayt, just don't give them a note bigger than what they ask for as they won't give you change.
But once that was sorted and you are in the cave you'll be blown away at its collection of shrines and Buddha's.
They come in all sizes and shapes and right towards the end there is even a temple.
I can't not tell you just how amazing this place is.
Well worth the effort in getting here.

I went on this trek together with my girlfriend and our awesomely amazing guide Zay. We chose (1 day in advance) the 3 day, 2 night trek. Everyday we experienced different special sights, adventures, amazing people and good food (so so much food). We were especially happy with our guide! He knew the area very well, was prepared, well informed and above it all he spoke very good English, so be prepared to get all your questions answered. The first day was slightly tougher for us because my girlfriend twisted her ankle, but Zay had bandages, tiger balm and patience so she made it all the way to the end.
The first day you'll spend some time at a village with a monastery. After this you will continue to your first stay near farmlands. We stayed at the just completed tree house build around a big flower tree (you'll also get to eat these flowers). In this area you'll swim at hidden pools, have a shower underneath a powerful waterfall, visit a cave and enjoy the sunrise from your treehouse.
The second day you will advance to your next place to stay. You will traverse through farmlands, jungle scenery and do some minor challenging hiking. You might also encounter some of the local charcoal burners and hunters. Zay pretty much knows everybody in the area so you will be able to ask them questions as well, as he is prepared to translate for you. Further up he took us to a really gorgeous waterfall where we were allowed time to go for a little swim and shower. Later we had lunch at a small woodcutters village. From here out you take a boat along the river to go to the bamboo hut where you will spend your last night. This place was awesome! The only light you needed there were the bonfire and the stars. Zay also took us out to a little pool in the river to wash up.
The third and last day was the most challenging and in my opinion most beautiful part of the trek. The first part you will walk, climb, hop and make many pictures along the gorgeous river filled with white stones and blue water. After this you'll have to go up for a while. Bring good shoes because there will be many leaves and small rocks that'll make you slip away from time to time. After some time you'll arrive at the top where everything will be easier again. And again, Zay has a lot of patience so even if you feel like you are not very fit, this is still very doable because he pays attention to you and if you need a break or not. At the top you'll drink some tea with local farmers and then continue to Mango village where you'll have a insanely good lunch (best we had in Myanmar). At the end they pick you up with the car and deliver you back to your hotel.
We found it very charming that the trekking organization works with the villagers whom live nearby the trekking route. All the lunches and meals are made by people who live in the local villages. If all the scenery doesn't do it for you (it will) the smiles and friendliness of the locals definitely will.
The last thing I loved about this trekking was smoking Myanmar cigars and drinking lucky water with Zay!

This temple is relatively new and in immaculate shape. Unfortunately it houses another Buddha statue with a Las Vegas-style LED display behind its head. This detracts from the beauty of the interior but I guess it is the style of today. The pillars and ceiling are covered in gold and beautifully decorated. We had the pleasure of watching a photoshoot for a wedding taking place while we were there.

I visited there on July 16 morning. It was raining time and water colour was muddy. Water fall was not too big. Location was not very far from Pyin Oo Lwin city. But water came from Gel Laung creek through city was very dirty. I saw some people were swimming there. Actually water should clean for public recreation area.

After 10 days of visiting temples and stupas it was lovely to visit this beautiful church. The inside really is lovely and there are numerous memorials to the Gurkhas and other regiments who fought and were stationed here.
Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
