Madame Sherri Forest

I expected a lot more by all the hype the media and people provide for this place. It certainly is worth seeing but don't expect to spend more than 5-10 minutes being in 'awe' here. my friend and i travelled here looking for a great place to hike and this is within shouting distance from the parking lot. So we decided to hike around Anne Stokes Loop which made it worthwhile. Broken beer bottles and glass all around the old foundation, the staircase was cool but if you saw the photos then you've seen all this place has to offer.

We've been stopping here since they opened, and the store gets better and better. Recently my wife was headed to TN for a get-together with the dog rescue league she works with down there (our dawg says "woof yawl") and we shopped for gifts for...MoreThanks a lot! Spofford Lake

Reviewed By Armstrong M - Keene, New Hampshire

We have been going to Spofford Lake for nearly 40 years and, while development and increases in population are inevitable, it has become nearly unusable during summer's peak months. The size and number of boats has outpaced what this small lake can accommodate and, during busy times, create a churning, loud, exhaust laden hazard that resembles a turnpike rather than a body of water. Non motorized boats use it at their own risk and must fight for space. The one island is so besieged with high wakes it is slowly disappearing. Many New Hampshire lakes have been managed with care and maintain a code of conduct that facilitates their continued beauty and use. Unfortunately Spofford Lake's visitors tend to be rude, uncaring and insensative to those around them and have no concern for the future viability of this water. Parking near impossible and the boat launch is very poorly managed.

This is an attractive bridge which is no longer used by vehicles. It is a nice setting with trees and a grassed area. Its very pleasant to just walk across it and enjoy the peace and quiet.

I have been visiting this bridge for years. I live in Mass but every once in a while during the year for the past 40 years I visit under the bridge. Sometimes I bring a lunch and spend time siting on a rock watching the beauty of the bridge and the scenery. Many many years ago you had to stumble down to the water but now there are steps. Love it here!

We made a special trip to Basketville during the Putney Art Gallery Weekend Open House. I wanted some decorative baskets which I found there. My husband found a small coffee table that he had been looking for in wicker. Stonewall from Maine has some items there that I like. We also debated on blueberry wine that was at the tasting table.

Poocham Hill Winery

Poocham Hill wines are made from our own grapes. One of the first questions usually asked is what grapes we grow and visitors expect to hear something they are familiar with like Chardonnay or Cabernet. Most do not recognize the cold hearty varietals we grow. Our goal, from the start has been to make the best wine from the best grapes that will grow in our microclimate. When you taste our wine, you might find similarities with wines you like and are familiar with, but each of our wines is unique. Our wines pair well with different foods. We invite you to come and taste our wines. Each is an experience into itself. Our tasting room is both relaxing and inviting and you are sure to have a great time.

Reviewed By Peter_01039 - Western Massachusetts

We visited three Southern New Hampshire wineries on a Saturday afternoon. The Poocham Hill Winery was one of our favorites, with 100% of their wines produced from grapes that are grown on-site. The tasting room is small and rustic, yet quite comfortable. The owners are typically present and eager to engage their guests in conversations about their love of wine. They will also provide recommendations for additional stops in the area, including the other wineries.

The winery is definitely off the beaten bath, but GPS directions are accurate and reliable, and their signage provides a helpful reinforcement that you are heading in the right direction. There is a $6.00 fee for tasting, which is quite reasonable when you realize that this is a boutique operation with limited production. Visit them, taste their wines, then buy your favorites while they are still available.

It adds a great touch to the town of West Chesterfield and I would highly recommend anyone to check it out! The rum is very good especially the Aged rum! The owners are very friendly, outgoing and take the time to chat with each customer. 5 stars!!
