Easy access from road when you have found a place to park. It wasn't a busy day.
Straight in the water which is flat sandy and shallow a few waves but mainly calm nice temperature with occasional warmer patches. Back to the beach which has showers and foot taps. There are beds etc to hire and refreshment seller. Cafes and restaurants close by

What a great hour, we went on a Segway tour of the nature reserve.
We were shown the controls and allowed a practice in the carpark.
The staff were friendly and collected us from our hotel and dropped us back afterwards.
The only negative was the audio commentary unit was intermittent but that might be as was were quite far back from the guide.
Great fun and worth spending an hour of your holiday

I stayed recently in this area of Spain and did two excursions with this company, both of which were superb in every way. Our guide, Maria, was excellent: professional, very knowledgeable,and so keen on her job and enthusiastic. We had one trip specifically bird watching and saw 42 different species in just one afternoon and there are so many different habitats and this is an excellent area for migrating birds. Our second trip was to Donana National Park and what a superb day we had. We saw so many birds, also wild boar and -the highlight of our visit - we saw an Iberian lynx. What a thrill for us all, such a rare animal. I would highly recommend this company for anyone wanting a first rate experience of wildlife in this wonderful area of Spain

We used this walk on nearly a daily basis , the path is alongside the road but comfortable walking . There are 5wqlka through the dunes to the beach which is excellent .

Lots of places in Spain claim a connection with Columbus.,,,usually by allegedly having some of his bones! Columbus actually stayed here and planned his voyages to "India" with the monks while awaiting funding from Ferdinand and Isabella. The tours are excellent with clear descriptions of the various historic events that took place. They also have models of his ships, which were frail and tiny by today's standards. Well worth seeing.

Myself and three generations of my family have visited Las Carabelas several times before. We visited again yesterday just after the reopening after several months of renovation work. It is better than before and would highly recommend anyone to make a visit. The entrance fees are very low (7.50 for a family of two adults and two children). There is also an excellent tapas bar by the lagoon. IT IS CLOSED ON MONDAYS.

Beautiful views, catches the evening sunset perfectly and there are several great bars from which to buy a drink - I recommend Mosquito. If you're walking or cycling down the ria, it's really pleasant. Bathroom facilities are also consistently clean and well-serviced. Only disappointment is that less than 2 years after its launch several paving blocks are already coming loose - take care with small children on bikes who might not notice.
