We visited with 2 children (3 and 7) and were hosted for the visit by Victor. Having booked the tour by email at 1730 the night before the visit, we were pleasantly surprised that there was only us and another group of 2. The visit cost 12€ (Free for kids) and included a walk through the bodegas with an excellent description of how the different types of sherries are made and how they all differ in taste. It also included tasting 5 different sherries, 2 straight from the cask, which was a real novelty. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sanlúcar. Thank you to Victor for being such a great host.

It’s our favorite white town. Very close to the seaside and still on the hills. Lovely small roads open to this square which is the heart of town. Loved it.

If you want to see a different side of Spain, take a tour to see this huge Doñana National Park, a little more than 1 hour from Seville. An 8 hour day trip takes you to the different ecosystems of the gulf of the Guadalquivir river: marshes, swamp, pine forest and sand dunes. So many birds, everywhere to listen to or to see! Flamencos, spoon bills, storks, hawks, big and small birds, ... Even if I am not a birdwatcher, I just enjoy them. For a North American, deers and rabbits are common. We got to see 3 deers, and 1 hare. Unfortunately, no luck with the endangered lynx. As a bonus, we saw the pilgrimage church of El Rocio. (Naturanda.es tours. Lunch at Matalascañas beach). Don’t go there in Winter, the birds will be in Africa.

Santiago Castle

Wonderful old fort/castle with tons of history. Apparently Magellan started his voyage from this place. Super high tower with great views and a small museum of sorts. Entry was 6 Euros per person and well worth the money. Allow around an hour and half for entire tour
