Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail

Reviewed By erinm512017 - Tampa, United States

We had a great experience at Sir Henry's! We are avid Halloween buffs and have been to many different local and national experiences over the past 20 years. This year for obvious reasons has been totally different and so we were very glad to be able to still have some safe Halloween fun. If you come here expecting a Halloween Horror Night’s type experience you will be disappointed but if you attend keeping in mind that this is a locally done experience you will really enjoy yourself. What was neat and added to the experience is that they sent you through the house/trail one small group at a time so that meant that you got the full experience. The trail parts make the whole thing extra creepy. The staff was great and they had a refreshment stand and small shop as well.

Edward Medard Regional Park

The Edward Medard Park is tucked away in eastern Hillsborough County between Brandon and Plant City. The Park extends along 1,284 acres where a dike, control structure and reservoir offer some flood protection along the Alafia River. In 1972, under an agreement with the District, Hillsborough County developed this site as one of its largest and most popular regional parks, visited yearly by more than 400,000 people.

This park is huge and there’s so much to explore. We camped here for a week with kids ranging in the ages of 12-16. There’s a range of activities to keep all ages entertained. There’s hiking trails, gorgeous water views, playgrounds, wild life and frisbee golf. There’s plenty of room to spread out and go on different hiking trails. We will definitely be back. The only downside was the bathrooms in the campground area aren’t kept very clean. The woman who cleans them just uses a water hose and sprays from the ceiling to the floor. She soaks the toilet paper and the ceiling drips for about 30 minutes after she’s done. I have never seen anyone clean like this. The bathrooms are a 2/10. There are dead bugs everywhere and the walls are dirty.

Jump Florida

No time like the present to jump out of a plane at 18,000 ft! Skydiving was on my sister’s bucket list. She has terminal cancer and decided to take a journey around the country visiting family and friends. Needless to say, when she got to Florida, Jeff and Brian made sure she had an adventure! Bought the Groupon a week prior. Decided to upgrade to 18,000 ft once we got to the Lake Wales location because you only live once! Jeff checked her in and was THE BEST at putting everyones concerns and fears at ease. Time to meet the person she’s going on the adventure with...Brian was AWESOME! A perfect match for her and definitely made her skydiving adventure one she will never forget. Between his instruction and jokes, she was the calmest chick out there. The video and pictures are totally worth buying. At the very end, it was taking a little longer to get her video. Turns out, Jeff enlisted everyone on staff to sign a shirt to give to my sister as a reminder of her awesome day. Needless to say, a few tears were shed at this kind gesture. I cannot recommend this place enough. The staff is absolutely amazing. A special thanks to Jeff and Brian for flying my sister to cloud 9 and jumping out with her for the adventure of a lifetime! You guys ROCK!

Plant City Train Viewing Platform

Good place to watch from if there's anything to watch. We were just coming out from the museum across the tracks when.....the gates went down, the lights started flashing, and the thunder of an Amtrak train was in the distance. We weren't 30 feet from it as it went by. I don't know if it would have been any better watching from the platform but we went over to check it out anyway. You can see the crossing diamond well from upstairs and some of he historical district but no other trains showed up. Bummer, but go here anyway!

Our garden has been open for over 30 years, filled with handmade wrought iron, statuary, and a variety of animals throughout two acres of mossy oak trees. Take a stroll by Boinky the pig, have a chat with the parrots, and watch the peacocks strut their feathers all while surrounded by our handcrafted iron designs and unique statuary. Gates, furniture and iron décor of all styles - we make custom designs and have original designs ready for purchase. People come to relax, take pictures, paint, or just eat lunch on the picnic tables. There's never a need to buy anything, simply enjoy the blend of art and nature. Make yourself at home in the garden and ring the big bell by the gazebo if you need anything, including complimentary water and bug spray. This garden is absolutely beautiful! It's not too far from the Berry Barn on State Rd 60. You can't miss it. There are large signs about their wrought iron gates and statues that will lead you in. Yes, 2 acres of iron artwork and sculpted statues. It's a butterfly garden with beautiful birds. They even have a talking pig that comes up to you as soon as you approach his home. A very vocal pig! I literally was mesmerized by all of this. We were greeted by a talking parrot. I believe her name is Annie (or so I've read). She says "Hi" to you as you walk up to her cage. Such a sweetie! A nice woman who I believe was the owner told us to ring the huge bell out front if we needed her for anything. Apparently they are used to people coming to visit just to get inspired. The entire garden is full of strategically placed sculptures, iron work, fountains, and many outdoor accessories (benches, tables, mail boxes, and so on). It's a place of business but also a botanical garden. As you walk along the paths towards the back of the garden you will also see a very large caged area sitting near a pond. There are some larger peacocks, a rooster, and another type of bird contained inside of it. You'll also see a few peacocks roaming through the garden. It was actually quite funny because I had initially seen them from afar at the other end of the garden. I didn't see them anymore as we got near to that part of the garden. I started to ask my mother where they all went, and that's when I noticed that the peacock was right in front of us (about 4 feet away). My mother didn't see it immediately until I told her where it was. It was as still as a statue. It just happened to turn around and look at us. Then, I saw his buddy in the garden behind him looking for insects in the bushes. There was also a white peacock that looked like a little princess. What a cool experience! I can't wait to go back. I'd like to get a few things for my garden one day soon. It was such a peaceful place. A place that anyone would enjoy. They are not open on Monday and Tuesday so plan accordingly. I suggest that you go this time of year (December or January) when it's cool. I'm sure that it's even more beautiful in the spring and summer. But there is water nearby, and with water there are mosquitoes. We thankfully didn't see or feel any mosquitoes today.
