Glyfada Beach

Reviewed By Jofrod - Yorkshire

Glyfada beach is set in a bay is on the West coast of Corfu, the beach is overlooked by impressive greenery a large hotel, a few bars, villas and a Small shop.
The beach sandy with the most impressive crystal clear water, however you will struggle to see any fish, snorkelling is fun but you won't see much!
The beach outside the large hotel is clean and maintained, the water sports are very good and reasonably priced.
The area in front of Pazuzu was so dirty, soiled nappies left behind, rubbish mixed into sand. This really spoilt an area of natural beauty.

My cousin and I love water parks so we were sold on it before we even got there, but it was so good we went twice! There are a lot of different sections, you never queue for too long, and there's a great variety of slides and even a wave pool with rubber rings. Overall two great days out

Madison Garden Bar

Reviewed By A R - Manchester, United Kingdom

Nice bar set in lovely Gardens. Good atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Drinks were a bit on the expensive side. Downside for me was their strange Seating system. It's the only bar where you wait to be seated. Most people gravitated to the bench Seating along the front that have comfy cushions. If you did manage to get to the seats before the staff got to you they all had a 'Reserved' sign on the table. Then the staff decided whether you could sit there! On being allowed to sit there we were told we may have to share (as there are two bench seats facing each other) which for us wasn't a problem. We were there for a couple of hours but nobody else turned up. The next night we went in again and was allowed to sit in the 'comfy' seats but only stayed for one drink. Went in again next night but weren't allowed in the 'comfy' seats, even though no one sat down in the time we were there. I can only presume if you are new they sit you in the 'comfy' seats to draw you in and depending on how often you go in and how much you spend dictates where you can sit and whether you get a bowl of nuts! Rather strange so we didn't go in after that.

We stayed in Ermones and looked at the beach a couple of times. Very unimpressed. Lots of litter, sea did not look clean or inviting. Better to travel to Paleokastritsa or Glyffada.

Achilleion Museum

Reviewed By Rachel1951 - Glasgow

The Achillion Palce is fascinating. Not only was it where many parts of the Bond movie were filmed but the history is very interesting. Take time to read about the history before visiting because this will increase your enjoyment. If it’s not busy when you go, you must lie down at the entrance and take a photo of the stunning fresco. The only way to photograph it is from floor level. The huge statue of Achilleas dominates the beautiful Gardens and there is also a statue of Achilleas with the arrow through his ankle. Then of course you will see the statues and pillars featured in the Bond movie For Your Eyes Only filmed in 1981. It’s a shame that people who visit Corfu don’t check out the history because it’s amazing and opens up the island in a way you wouldn’t imagine. I do think going round the Achillion with a guide is best. Go, savour and enjoy.

Casa Parlante

"Welcome! Please, come in! The Count will be with you presently. He hopes you will join him and the Countess in the drawing room for tea." Awakening all your senses, the traditions of the island unfold in front of you, depicting family life in an authentic experience of sights, sounds and smells. Casa Parlante is a unique museum: it brings history to life and lets the visitor breathe it in.

After visiting this museum shortly after it opened I was most impressed. Returning with friends I enjoyed it just as much and liked hearing their very favourable comments. It has a great guide and gives a good impression of how wealthy families lived in Corfu town. Highly recommend it but do not go on a tour - the individual tickets at the door are very reasonable.

Asteras Cruises

A wonderful daily cruise with BBQ to the north-east coast of Corfu island

Reviewed By Quality-Pro - Amsterdam

I may have tried a lot of different experiences but nothing can compare a day on board Asteras. I will definitely do it again and again...every single time is another moment of pure happiness and when I leave I only long for my next dream cruise with captain Telis. It has to do with his unique and generous personality : he used to work for Club Med and it certainly shows in the way he entertains his flock.... ( explaining in all these many different languages, including Russian!). Leaving from Dassia, he takes us all along the beautiful North-East coast through Barbati, Nissaki,Agni, Kouloura and Saint Stefanos to an heavenly cove where the most unbelievable & huge barbecue is being served. No wonder he keeps the secret of that incredibly tasty meat, local sausages and special salad dressing....2 hours of pure pleasure swimming in crystal clear waters... another stop in the picturesque village of Kassiopi : time for wandering around and a " Frappé" on a Terrace of the little harbor....then another dream stop diving and swimming in the blue caves....Heading back to Dassia, you just feel gifted with hospitality, beautiful scenery, music, laughs, great food , wine and Ouzo....and grateful to captain Telis, his caring charming wife Marilena and the dedicated crew, very nice guys. I' ll be back....soon....

Mouse Island

Reviewed By vivian L - Southern Finland, Finland

I am so happy I took the small boat trip to Mouse Island (Pontikonissi ) when I arrived to Kanoni to see the Vlacherna Monastery. Only a few minutes boat trip ( 2.50 EUR) and there was this peaceful haven and a small cafe waiting for me. I have to say it sure was a surprise. I had frappe there with affordable price including a glass of water. There is the 13th century church of Pantokrator (very small church) in the center of the Mouse Island.
You can stay as long you want, boats come quite frequently to bring more people on the island but it is still restful. This island and the church of Panagia Vlacherna are the most famous and photographed spots of Corfu.
