Lingmala Falls

Reviewed By NaseemVora

One of the must see places in Panchgani. there are 2 falls. the left side fork is a short trek and leads to a small waterfall! lots of photogenic spots to take pics. you can even sit in the water. Going towards the right side, is a longish walk, and leads you to a viewing point where you can see the main waterfall, crashing from a great height in 3 stages. the view is wonderful. try going early in the morning so as to get parking, or the place gets totally jammed.

We visited this place while it was Monsoon Season and the Horse Carts were not functioning. We got an opportunity to roam across most part of this flat land on foot without encountering much crowd of people or horses. There r few caves too on the downhill which can be visited if you have time. The main attraction is the 360 Degree views that take your vision to surrounding hills and villages. This is a must visit place in Panchgani..

Devrai Art Village

Devrai Art Village tries to make a bridge between the far flung tribal areas and urban living. Our work addresses modern tastes and sensibilities but is inspired by traditional designs and techniques. Our craftsmen come from the Naxalite hit Gadchiroli and Chhatisgarh regions and are often caught in the crossfire between the State and the insurgents. DAV strives towards evolving a safe space where their creativity is nurtured and livelihoods sustained.

If you are interested in arts or the production process of art forms, this is a good place for you to visit in Panchgani. They have beautiful tribal and traditional art (sculptures of stone and brass, pictures with brass, amazing lamps made of pumpkins or so, small things like jewellery). There is one gallery where you can have a look and buy things, also you can see artists working on the new pieces of art in worksheds. Everybody was very friendly to us and explained the entire process in detail. The NGO itself is a very good idea, supporting tribal artists and preserving the traditional arts. I (Western foreigner) don't find the price too high or exaggerated - also keep in mind that these artefacts need lots of work and effort (20 days for one statue). The smaller ones are also affordable for me as a student (small lamp for 700 Rupees, jewellery starting from 250 Rupees, statues starting from 600 Rupees). Consider to come and support this nice small NGO. :)
