Smothers Park

This is a great park for kids of all ages. It is also a great place for adults to sit and enjoy the atmosphere by the river. We were really impressed with the diversity of playground type equipment and ways for kids to enjoy themselves. It would be an easy place to play hide-n-seek or chase and also good for smaller children to enjoy some of the equipment. Also the design is very unique and cool, nothing like I have ever seen in a city playground.

International Bluegrass Music Museum

The International Bluegrass Music Museum is the world's only facility dedicated to the history and preservation of the international history of bluegrass music. Plan a trip to Western Kentucky. Bring your instruments! Attend our jam sessions, concerts, and the ROMP Bluegrass Roots & Branches Festival. Then walk the hills of Jerusalem Ridge, and visit the homeplace of Bill Monroe, just down the road. Exhibits: -Bluegrass Hall of Fame - Pioneers of the music and people who have contributed to its greatness. -Stage-screen presentations of the museum's new digital VOHP documentary series highlighting First Generation musicians. -The Classic Band - The story of how Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, Lester Flatt, Chubby Wise, and Howard Watts changed the world. -Historically significant bluegrass instruments. -The Timeline of Bluegrass Music - Following the roots from the Scots-Irish string bands to camp meetings and gospel quartets, through fiddling conventions, the jazz era, and the folk music revival. -The work of legendary bluegrass photographers such as Les Leverett, Ron Petronko, Stephanie P. Ledgin, Phil Zimmerman, Gene Lowinger, Marta Moret, and Carl Fleishhauer.

While this is a bit outside of town, it was well worth the drive. This was once an elementary school. The rooms of the school remain intact, but have become vendor shops instead. I thoroughly enjoyed perusing all of the vendors. There's a great variety of items available. I purchased a necklace, a purse, a toy, and a sign made from old tobacco sticks. While I no longer live in the area, I will definitely return here on my visits.

Yellow Creek Park is one of the most quaint yet beautiful parks I've been too. It offers playgrounds and a lake and also my personal favorite, hiking trails. A family could spend a whole day here hiking, picnicking, fishing, and soaking up some sun.

The hiking trails are my personal favorite, and they're so unique and pretty. I enjoy just being out in the thick of it all. If you enjoy nature, you'll enjoy Yellow Creek Park.

This is a very nice park with a level, paved walking path around it, basketball court, playground, exercise equipment, and a small spray ground. I great place to bring kids in warmer weather where they can run around the spraypark. Bring a towel! Also, great place to walk around the path and use the outdoor excersice equipment. Very friendly park with green grass and big trees.

This is such a lovely park. We were here for a tournament and were pleased with the cleanliness of the park area. Butterflies seem to love this place, and one landed on my hand and stayed there for over an hour! The lake is pretty and we enjoyed watching the baby ducks. It's a very nice park!

Western Kentucky Botanical Garden

Reviewed By Hannah R

My family went to the botanical garden and absolutely adored it! Our young children loved running around finding secret hiding places, enjoying the plant life, and observing the butterflies, bugs, birds, and bunnies that are found all around!

The grounds are well maintained with plenty to see. It's a little smaller than we anticipated but was good for us as our children hate being in one place for too long. However, with all of the room to run and explore, the kids were entertained for an hour and a half! Absolutely lovely and a must have experience. Reasonably priced and just a gorgeous exhibit of nature.

Owensboro Antique Mall

Reviewed By TangentialT

This spot is larger than it looks from the outside, but it is not huge. That being said, they have a great selection of antiques and vintage, from furniture to jewelry, books, and more. The staff is very friendly and will do whatever they can to help answer questions. A great stop if you are in town!
